What is normal operating voltage of the FPR and current? Can I apply the correct voltage and current to the FPR not installed in the truck and verify that is works or will it ruin it?

lb7 is 90*
lly is straight but diiferent ports than lbz they are simmilar to lb7

Ummmmm, I don't think I agree. The one I took out of the truck which was stock on my LLY the plug is 90* the one "new" modified unknown type is also 90*. I get all the lb7, lbz, lly, lmm, etc,all mixed up but I did want to clerify the parts I currently have on hand.

Any ideas on the voltage and current to make the fpr operate out of the truck? is it safe?

let me rephase that the bbl inside of a lbz/lmm are different than a lly but they are both 90*.....does that make more sense:)

LB7 is the only straight one but the bbl inside is the same as a lly

OK, I am begining to understand. (sorry slow learner!) With that being said, (I'm not sure what BBL is.) but if they are different would that lead me to believe that if they are different it won't work? And if I apply the 5VDC to this will it move?

As for the 5 volt I dont know,I also have a bad regulator that i would like to check out,I am just not sure how to do it?

This was a SD part right? Have you contacted him about it?

You could probably take the mod'd one apart and see if the barrel is stuck. If you get it free see if there are any burs, maybe polish the outside of it some. Then you could stick it in your original piece.

I am also having a problem with my FPR. I continue to get a surge at idle, even though Broviak tried his best to fix it in EFI. The surge is also present during steady-state cruise. :(
Assuming the problem is in the FPR itself (it was a used unit), can I swap out the modded barrel into my known-good stock FPR, or even swap it into another new LB7 unit, or even into an LBZ unit and get a modded LBZ unit out of it?

Also, just want to review which FPR flows best. This is my understanding of the "pecking order" when it comes to FPRs, least flow to most:

1) stock LB7/LLY
2) stock LBZ/LMM
3) modded LB7/LLY
4) modded LBZ/LMM
5) Superdiesel LB7
6) Wicked Diesel full-tilt race FPR

Is that close?

No matter what it can be fixed,it is really not that hard:confused: There is like 3 tables at the most you would beed to play with.

I have probably the most complicated to tune idle with 2 pumps and 2 different regs

It is a tight fit but I only use LBZ regs, they are the best to start with and when I am done they allow alot more flow and are easier to tune than the early lb7 reg. I have some single pump trucks pushing 650-675hp with my single LBZ modded pumps. Hope you get it figured out Tom but it was awfully touchy and from the tuning side of it I would say it started life as an 01-02 reg not an 03-04.

Nobody answered my question... if I buy a new regulator, can I simply swap the modded barrel from the old one to the new one?
Can I swap the modded lb7 barrel to an lbz regulator?

Thanks for trying Mark. I do appreciate all you did for me. :)

I dont think so they are the same size but the holes are different

Thing is WHY? if you remove the barrel why not just mod it?

thumbs or not it isnt hard,If you can remove the cap you can mod the barrell

if not get a machine shop to do it,Or send it to superdiesel and let the master work on it:)

I have one of his cp3s and LOVE it to death:cool2:

Its not getting any better, no matter how I change the regulator table. Enough screwing with this....Im going to run an regular old LBZ reg and call it a day.
