Here is a picture showing two .030" feeler gauges in the piston to bore gape. At the moment, this is the best picture showing piston protrusion.

Were those ported heads?
Sorry to hear that Mick.
I always have my pistons cut down .010" just in case.
It's one thing destroying parts by pushing them to the limits, but it's another when you get a sloppy build that ambushes you.
I'm in the same boat with the whole "frustrated at diesels" thing. I hurt an engine in our Vette, and in 7 days I had a new forged short-block in it for less than the cost of a set of pistons for a Dmax. Obviously I haven't had similiar luck with Dmaxes. In order to race these trucks successfully, you need to have 2 engines.
Did you get a value for the deck-height?
Man I hate to hear this Mick. The list of problems with this engine just keep getting longer. Every time I talk to Mike it seems like there is something else you guys are finding wrong with it. It makes me sick and I'm not the one footing the bill.
I've heard the frustration in both of your voices over this thing and I can't imagine being out of that kind money on top of it. I hope it works out for you.
Have you gotten any kind of word out of Curtis about this stuff yet? Seems to me he has an ever growing list of things to answer for and take care of.
Man you guys can not catch a break hope everything turns for the better.
I guess Corvettes and gassers have been getting hotrodded alot longer than Diesels and most Engine Builders have them down pat by now, but as for Diesels alot of us are still experimenting - (some more than others) Trouble is Speed (The Auto kind) is pretty addictive and in spite of all the failures and expenses we still have it in our veins. As far as my direction goes, Ive got Guy to change the LLY Stroker Engine he is building so it will operate on LBZ/LMM system. I am currently trying to find a Regular Cab Late model GMC or Chev that we will run on the street and strip to take the place of the Red CC that we will put back to 4x4 and sell. Ideally we want an 08 GMC, Black, RC, 4x2 with my old 4 Link in. But they're hard to find.
Would you consider one from Canada?
Damn! Sorry to see that guys.
Unbelievable. That is negligence. I hope you are able to recover all your expenses from the builder.
