So far so good. I have the passanger side head off. Wow theres a bunch of stuff on that engine! With a straight edge over the deck surface there was .041 distance between the top of the piston and the deck surface. The only number I could find on the head gasket was 3600. Everything else looked great. Im pretty happy about that!

thanks kat, Yea i need to figure out my head gasket thickness. I will do that today. Now im curious to see how bad they are bent by looking at them. The way this thing smoked you would have thought they looked like horse shoes:roflmao: Those pistons had a tune running 3200pw with seeing im my logs a max of 39* timing

Driver side had A gaskets. Pass side had B gaskets. Didn't get so lucky on the driver side. I took the head off and were i ate the compressor wheel up on my S465 it had made pit marks in two of the pistons on the top and on the bottom of that head on one hole. It still ran fine but just looks bad. Good thing is i already have a good spare head! I might just go ahead and run the damn pistons. I would think they will be alright. The second rod back on the driver side is bent REAL bad too lol.

yep you know they are bent pretty decently when the pistons start self-clearancing themselves on the crank counterweights... There isnt much clearance between the skirts and the crank counterweights even when the rods are straight.

like Michael was saying, if you put a stock LB7/LLY rod in a press, you would be surprised how easily it bends. Not that that is a "scientific test" or anything, but I did try it one day just for grins, and thought it would take a lot more effort than it did.

Yea, I think i pushed the envolope a little to much. At least it didn't window the block :thumb: When I pulled the lower pan and seen the two chuncks in the bottom i was like oh shit got a piston skirt. Then after taking the rods and pistons out i don't know how it didn't throw a rod through the block. 6 pistons were hitting the crank. 4 rods were bent enough to hit the crank. The one pictured #8 was the worst.

You my friend are a professional parts tester :roflmao: I cant believe it still ran! or did it come to a stop hard ?
No, i could start it up and drive it, it was just shitty and cold natured as it was so decompressed!

No shit adam, It was a long time and you know personally how hard a beat on it with numerous sled pulls and drag races being the top contender on alot of the pulls! Thanks i need some luck for the build lol....
