Whats your reasoning behind going to 3.42's? Since you don't drag race, and have a 6 speed. Just curious.

He's doing it for the same reason I'm going to a 9" rearend to get to a 2.73-2.90 gear set, load that bitch up and let it eat! The more power you have on tap the more load it needs to do it's job efficiently plus it drags the shifts out some so it doesn't feel like it is short shifting so much. I love the 3.42's in mine and have done a bunch of customer's trucks the same way for the same reasons.

I see. I have had 3.42s in my pull/race truck since 2011. I just don't like it on the street because 55-60 MPH is now awkward, little to slow for 5th gear, and a little fast for 4th. So I wasn't sure why someone with a street truck would want them. But I also run a really large single..... I love mine at the dragstrip for all the reasons you have both already stated.

Does the LMM not also have a 130mph speed limit with 3.73s? Some limiter? I've read about several people having issues with that.

One critical issue at those speeds is the length, diameter and thickness of the drive shaft. If your using a stock aluminum 4" shaft at 120mph you're way over the maximum critical RPM of the shaft.

Abt done for this go around, have a bracket to make for the wastegate controller and a couple other small things to do. Then it's getting the trans out, I'm excited to see how the new converter and all does.

No, I am not going to use that, I haven't heard anything good abt it. I've been told it's a pain to get setup correctly. I was using a boost T from turbo smart that thing is garbage. It is setup to constantly vent to the atmosphere, which means constant boost leak. I bought a mini air compressor valve (Kobalt) and will be using that. Need to make a bracket to mount it other then that I'm ready to go for a ride when the snow/ice clears up.

Noticed you're using the TurboSmart gate. Are you planning to use the eBoost2 controller?

Yeah I read through the directions on the eBoost controller and it does seem like a pain in the ass to get setup properly. Would be really nice to have once you get it dialed in though. What model Kobalt are you using? Give us some detail while you install and adjust.
