That's what i did with mine. Put a pressure gauge on it afterwards and oil pressure stayed consistent (no knockdown)
You did just a single groove? About how wide and deep did you go?
plug the end and cut a groove in the outer-most land parallel to the direction of travel. groove should only be 1/16" wide x 1/8" deep approx.
Tim
Grind a 1/2 inch flat across the bottom land. Make it look like a flat tire. Not to deep.
I had Dave test the groove vs the flat on his dyno and we found most time the groove still had knock down.
Are you both talking about modifying the same part of the valve? Tim is doing the outer part that the spring is against. Mike you sound like you're modifying the land that's on the opposite side or am I just reading this wrong.
Your reading it wrong.
George Alexander also tested both versions about 5 years ago, not to take anything away from you Mike, but he found the groove, when done the way he explained to me, to work better for a couple reasons. To each his own I guess.
F--k George and his bullshit testing.. Sometimes I wonder about you also.
LOL. Sometimes you are an ass, other times you are still an ass but a funny one. Lmao. But seriously, thanks for all the help and tech support you've given guys like me over the years! You really need to put a kit together!

X2 mike definetly doesn't sugar coat anything. I'm sure he's just a big teddy bear on the inside
We're all aware he's a wolf on the inside, not a teddy bear
I like sheep.
X2 mike definetly doesn't sugar coat anything. I'm sure he's just a big sheep lover on the inside
