Mine rigger...wasnt Dmitri going to warranty your trans? Why are you taking upon yourself now?

Yea sir. That's was over 75 days ago. Not to mention it was broke for over 30 before he said that.

I'll do it myself. At least it'll run right. It didn't have the 3/8 ball in the converter flow valve, just the short spring. Well if its had the longer spring all would have been well but it was 3/8 short so hence a failure.

My parts will be in this next week and hopefully in 2 weeks, as I'm limited to a few hrs a night working on it, my truck will run again.

I was told by a reputable builder that you can remove the ball and just use the white spring. am I going to do that no. im just going to modify my stock valve.

when I talked to mike a few years ago when i built my first trans. he told me to use a longer spring.

I don't have a stock valve anymore. On top of that I didn't have a white spring. I called transgo directly and asked for the overall length of the spring for kit A1-LU-BST-04 which comes with only 1 spring and it is 1.560" long and requires the 3/8 ball with it. That or you need a spring that is 3/8 longer to make up for it. Well I didn't have a ball or a longer spring.

Regardless its done by me. And this time itll be correct.

You are going to hate when then the converter applies, it is going rough for a daily driver with no knockdown...

Mine isn't much rougher than the Transgo valve was. The 3-4 shift firmed up alot but i also added the ml pr spring at the same time. That's the only noticeable difference I can feel.

To each his own, what you may not like I may love and vice versa, but to be honest since the converter never locked last time im sure ill think it normal. Im also installing the Mike L. spring. If I don't then I guess ill just be really good at playing with my transmission. Just my .02

I ran it both ways in my truck, and I couldn't tell any difference in lockup feel.

So is grinding the flat something that should be done on every build? I think I read where Mike says he does but can't find it again. It'll be my daily driver that isn't going to make crazy power, some say do it some say don't.... any help?

If you do this, you better have a strong converter. If you do this on a single disc it will bust the lining right off.

I do this mod on all my builds because I want no pressure drop to the internal clutches in the trans.
