I have an old Dell Inspiron 9300. Mine is spec'd out with the GeForce Go 6800, but they didn't add CUDA until the 7 or 8 series, I forget which. It is a good laptop, considering its age. Still use it to play movies from the server to the TV. It chokes on the 1080p ones though :spit:

As for your 1 ns/day, it also says "Core not running". Try rebooting your computer and see what happens. Or even just quit and restart the program?

Well, I'm stumped. Do you have the latest graphics drivers? I had to update mine before the program worked right.

Ha here is all I see when I try to run the display.

It takes millions of calculations to emulate 1 microsecond of protein folding. Hence why you don't see much motion, and why they need supercomputers or thousands of volunteers.

But that is a real picture of protein you're working on, and if it folds while on your computer, it will change.

Ok I couldn't wait till I got home. I downloaded the program and started folding.

Holy Crap...my laptop just went into hyperdrive! I think it just burned a whole in my jeans!

Should have warned you :D

If you run at 100% on a notebook, it's just like playing video games on one. It will generate some serious heat. In theory, notebooks are designed to handle it. But leaving an airgap under the base (prop it up with a pencil) will go a long way to cooling it down.
