This is really amazing stuff here Pat nice find.

I have had BOINC on my PC's for years but had to stop since I moved back to Windsor. I will start it back up once I can get better net here should be soon.

look at the alienwares.....they scream. but are pricey.

Or I could build you better for half teh price.

Dell owns AW now. But I have yet to find out if AW still builds them or if Dell puts a bunch of junk in them these days??? Anyone know?

I used to love the AW machines until I heard dell bought them, and now I pass on them thinking they are a dell in a nice case....

Yeah alienware is nice but not for the price. I've been pricing parts for a while now just been trying to decide which way to go. Trying to stay away from liquid cooling just don't want to deal with it and I don't need it for what the machine will be doing most of the time. I used to buy all my parts at a large computer swap meet that happens at Pomona but I went last July for the first time in a while and was surprised at the lack of vendors and choice so I guess that has bit the dust.

Wish I could load this on my servers at work but the bosses might get bent if I did. Dual core/dual Xeon 3gig processors on 3 servers could probably do some damage. They only run about 7~13% processing right now running my IP camera system.

oh yeah i used to have gaming PC with dual xeons.....thing was amazing.....too bad the MB was the only one produced...:)

You need to step up your game....you seem to be lacking in points lol.

I'm assuming the site isnt updated in real time. The PS3 says its completed one and nadda is on our page.

But its weird cause I think my laptop is running the wrong software maybe, cause it doesnt give much info and it always says 1 ns/day...

any thoughts guys? windows 7 64 bit here.

They seem to have like 6 different versions of the program. Try grabbing a different one??

I decided I'd give it a go on my server, but only on the GPU. So I am contributing one nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ worth of work (400 ns/day). Seems to keep power consumption much lower than using my CPU, and doesn't interfere with all my "important tasks" lol.

My current lappy: ASUS G51J, Gaming laptop. Intel Core i7 4G, Win 7 64bit. Its an awsome machine! And pretty good price for the power, uber warrentee and zero issues.

It can take up to 2 hours for points to show up.

Here are the basic client info for Windows:

Systray - This is the easiest to install, monitor, and the least intrusive. It works on one core of your CPU. You can load more than one of them, but you need to follow the instructions under the GUIDES chapter on the F@H site.

Command line - For those who like typing in a DOS window, this is perhaps a bit easier to set up for multiple clients (if you have a 4 core, run 4 of them).

SMP (symmetric multi-processing) - This is for those who are braver. This is a command line client that uses all your cores. You will find instructions under GUIDES. These can take days to complete.

GPU - This is for those with nVidia video chips that have CUDA. It says it works with ATI, but I have a ATI 5450 card and it says it can't see it. It might work with others, dunno.
There is both a command line and a Systray. The systray is painless just like the CPU client.

I'm using a spare computer that I test Linux stuff on. Old Dell 1.7 celeron with only 512meg ram. But I've been needing something for HD video so I guess its time to get it and let it fold when I'm not using it.

I got an old Apple 2 somewhere.....dont make me find it and the modem.....we can have a race to 100.....
