Go to system performance and Resource Manager and make sure all cores are running (CPU monitor).

You can't trust the FAH monitor software when you first get started. Tell me what the Project # and the TPF (time it takes to do 1%).

Yep all 6 cores are running, I only used Task Manager to check that part, that's how I know it wasn't running at 100%. I'll post the Project # and TPF when I get home.

I need to re-find a program that I read about that can dedicate cores to specific things. One of the things I've read on folding is that is better to have specific cores assigned to SMP and other(s) to running the GPUs. Seems to help performance. I think I have it bookmarked at home. There is a free version and a paid version. When I get home I'll post a link and what I have found out about when I get it loaded. What I want to do have 4 cores running the SMP and 2 cores running the GPUs once I fully load up on the video cards.

If you run it as a service, and use Win7 Pro, I believe you can target individual cores. Dunno.

If you give the argument -smp 4, then FAH will only use 4 cores (or any number). I didn't have much luck with that. I'd only aim 1 core at the card, since the AMD is true 6-core, and not like Intel which has "paired" hyperthreaded cores.

Initially I am going to just use 1 core for the card. But the MB I got has 6 PCIe slots and I have PCIe extenders on the way. I plan on making a rack that will be above the MB and hold 4~6 cards (might be able to put 2 on the MB without covering empty slots). I figure I'll have to use 1 core per 3 cards since I don't know that 1 core could handle all 6. Maybe 1 core can but I'll have to wait and see as I add cards how it works out.

Two things will stop you from getting SMP jobs that I know of:

big is not the file size entered in the -configonly part.

No -smp switch in the config, or when you type in fah6

Notice that -smp needs a "-" sign. big does not.

Go CTRL-C, then type in fah6 -configonly

Go through it until you find file size, and see if it's already big.

Go into advanced options, and go down to where it says "other options" and see if -smp is there.

:lildevil:

I just turned on a "few" more machines for the weekend.

I think I have 9 machines folding right now.

I can't run this way once Monday rolls around, but tomorrow at this time we should see a jump in the 24 hr results.

The GT430 is in an older HP slimline office computer. I paid $79 for the card, and put it in a "throwaway" computer. The powersupply is only 240w, so that's about the biggest that will work.
The GTS450 is in a CAD computer I'm building for the shop.
The GTX460 is in "my" home computer that goes in the garage.

And yes, I'm going a little nuts on this.

I figured out how to get the results from multiple machines onto one HFM.NET. But it's a struggle. Windows "hides" the directories where you must link to.
