So did you find any other problems that would have contributed to the C3s failing? How many horsepower do you think you've been running through it?

So no explanation as to HOW his c3 was setup so we peons know what NOT to do in the future? Just "never had a chance"?

Is that the level we've sunk to now?

Actually just trying to avoid a bash fest about the previous builder. The next time you build a Allison Tom make sure you don't use any .067 steels in c3 and you will be all set.

On edit: There is nothing wrong with the way he had everything for most trucks and 90% of builders who buy kits will have the same exact setup found in catmans transmission.

I don't think Evan is going to answer. I don't think I would either. OOPS, he did.

I have no idea who the hell "DRP" is anyway, and honestly dont care except that catman had to learn the hard way.

You have your reasons, but people need to know what not to do so they are informed when going to their builder, don't you think?
Keeping results secret, esp when they are bad, helps absolutely nobody. But thanks for replying.

I'd rather the builder knew what he was doing.

I help people everyday all day as does Mike on an even bigger level. We don't make a living telling every little thing to help promote even more of the ever growing undercutting backyard builders who don't do or know half of what they should to be building them.

Wow, I can truly understand both sides of this argument. Without taking sides, I think that the take-away here is that if you have a built engine and want a trans, you go to one of the top few guys out there. If you have less than that, then an experienced capable Allison tranny builder in your area should be able to properly install a "kit". Anyone that wants to hold back a built engine with an Allison needs a shop that is privy to the secrets that keep it alive and them in business.

I don't think anyone should bash someone for a failure at that horsepower level. Sure there are some that are able to make an Allison live at high power levels for quite a while. But at 900 horsepower things are going to fail.

Nothing to be ashamed of at all in my opinion.

Is the case damaged beyond being reusable from the thin steels? Or is the damage limited to the clutch pack?

I've got a customer coming in for some transmission work in the near future that currently has an original Gmax kit in it. (The single sided C3s and C4s) With all the bad rap they have gotten he wants them out of there before they fail. I don't blame him honestly. As paper thin as those things are I hope his case isn't damaged beyond usable condition.

Not that I can see is fine. When I finally took the C3 part I could tell that didn't happen in the short drive. In that it was just a coincidence that it failed right after that converter swap. I kinda wish I hadn't have paid the 135$ to ship it to SC now. But on the bright side I did find the twisted P2 hub at the splines become it broke and really mess shit up.

With how your fluid was it was a good idea to send the converter in either way. No sense in building a nice fresh Trans just to put a crap filled counter into it.

I have many trans builders (gmax installers) around here asking about my trans. I just tell them its a ats kit. Evan helped me huge with mine. I feel its only right to keep the specs to myself. Over 100 passes and going strong. Ran low 11s all day yesturday.
