That sure is a nice cooler, what did it run you?

Are you still running 3.73's or 4.56's? I'm debating going to 4.10's with these 35's and all the weight in the bed, I did some air dam work last days off and if I stay under 80 mph my trans runs 15 degrees under 90 degree ambient temp. So I guess that's not bad, until I hit the back roads with the converter unlocked then it hits 190-200 fast, but I haven't towed anything since the trans was done.

You would have to call mike for a price.

Ive been running 4.56 gears for the last couple years. Puts me right back to what stock was (3.73 and 245 tires).

With the new build and pressures Mike has my Trans running at along with this heavy trailer, I'm running well above what I use to. Use to be at 200* max and 210* towing, the added pressure and weight really moved temps way up. Dding in traffic I see 210-220* in 100-105* heat

6 speed and 35 I'd run 4.3 5sp 4.1

They do make 4.30:1 gears for front and rear..I was on in the fence with 4.30/4.56 before I regeared in Oct 15...still got to regeared front diff on my LMM..

Thought you couldn't get 4.30 front gears? Or was that 4.63 I'm thinkin of?

After doing the gear math for the same speed of 65 mph between 4.30 and 4.56 gearing Seema be roughly 100 rpm difference. Not much of a difference for towing and fuel economy. James, are you running 2000 rpm at 65 on those tires? Just wanted to make sure the gear calculator I used is accurate which it seems to be nearly spot on for my tire size and gear ratio.

Will that cooler from Mike snap into the factory cooler lines? Or do you need to shorten / rebend them?

yes sir! long as you tell him the year since 01-02 are different than 03-up. comes with all the brackets and bolts you need to drop it right in

sadly our summer trips up north have more than likely ended. i might get one more run in, in late september but not looking so. so i wont really know temps till next summer. next trip will most likely be the dunes which is all relatively flat driving with 2 hills but since they are about 3 miles long and its generally 60-80* outside when i pull them, nothing gets hot in that short time.

i can give unloaded temps though but they dont really compare to what i see loaded

Well my jegs fuel cooler fan died yesterday. hopped in the truck to hook back up to the trailer getting ready to leave the dunes and heard no fan noise... got under there and shes dead.

So i have been looking at a replacement fans today. going to swap to a Spal 11" 1600cfm fan (old one was an over rated 1000cfm). just trying to figure out how i want to switch it on. the jegs on was switched on with the lift pump so it always ran. not a big deal here in AZ to worry about fuel gelling but i think this go round im going to put the fan on a 150* thermostatic switch, then when towing ill have it hooked to my oil cooler fan switch so i can over ride it to always on. ill have to watch temps and see what fuel temps get to unloaded while i use the thermostat. we all know "the cooler the better, im just trying to preserve fan life this way. switching on at 150 is the lowest setting and realistically, i never see above that unless towing.

thoughts? little less load on my alternator too this way.

So summer temps are here again and we made our first trip sorta up north. Went to cottonwood for an annual wheeling trip we do.

loaded the rig up and off we went. I still have the stock radiator in place but got mikes trans cooler on, fuel cooler is working 100% and still have the derale oil cooler with spal fan.

we left at 2:30 in the afternoon in 105* heat. right away trans temp was much nicer. climbed to 190-195 and stayed there on flat ground an the rolling hills. Hit the big hills, dropped to 4th right away and started cruising up at 60mph at 2600-2700rpm. trans temp never went over 210*. that is a significant improvement over last year. oil temp never got over 250* but i can still get coolant to 240* pretty easy if i push it. i can sort of manage 230-240* and dropping to 55mph with an easy foot. did the same pulling the hills coming back. coolant temp is heating my oil temps more than the cooler can pull out. if i get coolant to drop, oil temps drop, i played with it while pulling the hills.

waiting on quotes for a radiator at this point. i was hell bent on a 3 core and retrofitting a fan shroud but then i would have to recess the fan clutch as well to keep it in the proper position. Instead, im looking at doing a upgraded 2 core that will be a dual pass. talking to ron davis, CBR, and couple other places, they all agree this would be a great way to go and best for my situation.

passed a 2016 CC/SB chevy dmax lifted on 35s with the same trailer as mine but newer up verde hill. long as she keeps pulling on new rigs, im happy :D. if i could get temps to stay down like i can in the winter, its a whole new ball game.
