Show me a stock duramax with only a tuner, intake and exhaust that runs 12.90's and weighs over 8000#'s race weight and I'll take what your saying in consideration. And then hit it with nitrous and see what happens............ Show me a stock duramax(stock turbo, cp3, and injectors) with only a tuner that makes 590rwhp and can race and drive it on #2 only and I'll say your right.
My truck with the rear seat removed, no spare, no tailgate weighs 7600lbs. It's over 8000lb with all of that stuff on it partly due to the 6" lift and 35" tires. I would bet with it in stock trim, I could make these numbers your looking for happen with the tuning that I have. I honestly wish I could try it. I should try and rent a duramax and to prove it.
Last fall there was a 1 ton CC 6.4 with just tuning and an intake at the track and it ran 13.4 for 2 passes and then he had to leave as he "broke" something. Impressive #'s, but I believe it proves that the reliability of these trucks at that power level is less than a Dmax running the same trap speeds and times-regardless of weight.
As far as are the "on the bottle" numbers valid or not issue, IMO they are valid numbers, but I think they belong in a different class. Call it a performance enhancing drugs class or whatever!:rofl: I think there should be two classes - an "All Motor" one and "Nitrous" both with their own respective numbers and records because the components and methods used to make say 800 HP are different.
What gets me though is when the bottle feeders cry when they lose a race because they had a problem with their nos or the bottle ran out or whatever. Most guys are good about it but there are some whiners out there.
