Wow, they were eating up the chargers that quick?

I've always wanted to try nitrous exclusively by bypassing or mostly bypassing the turbo. If that makes since. I don't know now.

Isn't nitrous sprayed in under pressure? Does it have to have a certain amount of air to dissolve into or something or is that what you're saying?

Yes but varies by system. I don't know about dissolving but I do know it takes heat to release the attached oxygen. I better bale though, I don't have a bunch of experience other than adding to a system.

That's more than I've dealt with it. I've never touched the stuff.

Subman, i know what you are saying. I know you can make more power with twins im just not a fan of them. Im sure i will be moving in that direction though, i took the truck on a 50mi loop this morning and its every bit as fast as my old 650 rwhp race set up and i have a tiny tune in it right now. It is a bit laggy with the .90AR on it but im up in the clouds at 6,800ft elevation. If i drop it out of OD manualy and put it in D it lights right up and scoots. I opened it up on the freeway a few times and all i can say is wow! Im looking forward to running it on the dyno next week.

Trent said i will need the bottle so im thinking about putting the 1.10AR on and spraying the crap out of it. Not sure yet? Not bragging or being a jerk but i know what im doing, ive done lots of research and spoke to alot of people the get lots of opinions. This motor WILL make every bit of 800hp and more. ATS did the work but they did infact use alot of outsourced parts that i wanted. Not everything is ATS, infact i think its just the turbo and CP3 set up. Lots of SoCal parts, DDP injectors, Mahle pistons, Crower rods......They used some of the best available.

As for the color... it really does look good. I wanted to supports ATS cause they have been there for me several times. Clint, Jason, Mike, Bryan, Zach, Josh, Devin have all helped me in a time of need on short notice. The purple has kind of grown on me i guess. I mean, they let me work on my truck till 3am, use there tools, lifts, parts.....they dont have to do that. When truckfest was here the ATS doors were open all night to Dodges, Fords and Dmaxes to come work on there trucks. ATS bought the beer and we were up till 3am again working on trucks. I even let another dmax guy that was having trans issues take my trans apart and steal pieces off it so he could run the next day. Another guy had a stuck regulator and guess what, Clint was there to give him a brand new one. ATS is diesel and are true diesel sportsmen. I could go on and on with stories of ATS helping others...

My turbo has a 3.0 compressor wheel which IMO is pretty good size for a single and yes its a t4. The a5k is a t3 2.6 i believe, i dont remember 100%.

You'd be talking direct injection or timed injection at the valve head to do that. Nitrous expands to atmospheric pressure instantly, you can't "ram" it in, because it will just blow right back out the intake.

Ever see a nitrous backfire on a diesel? Yup, just like gassers, it will blow the intake apart if you spray too much.

Newly, I think it's really cool that you and ATS have a good working relationship. It sounds like your truck is going to be really nice. In all seriousness, it will be a good race between you and Trent. As long as Trent's stock motor holds together, I think he might have a slight edge mainly because of the freshness of your setup. It takes time to get a truck dialed in. Just have fun and good luck getting all the kinks worked out.

Oh, as I understand it, the Aurora 5000 is a variety of the K31 which is a 71 mm compressor inducer (2.8"). From what I've been told, the 6000 is built off an S480.

Yes your correct on the turbo info you gave. The a5k is a 71.4mm and the a6000 is based off a s480.

I agree he will have a edge with his tuning but i believe i have alot more power on the table. We will see how it goes on the dyno and ill let some of you know what it does. Even so, im going to leave a little on the table and keep it on the safe side.

The ATS guys are great and a couple of them are thinking about flying out to "WOTE" to watch the race.

Great.

One more time a "fun" thread turns into a technical article.

Why is this site so backwards???

Just Kidding Folks. That's what this site is famous for, since there are a lot of hotrodders on here.

keep in mind. Newlys truck is also trying to remain a daily driver as well. maybe someday he will go to twins, but for now he has his reasons why he selected the turbo he did.

Trent does have an advantage on Newly as its going on the dyno just days before the event and everyone knows how that goes. Hopefuly things will go smooth and get dialed in correctly the first time.

I think it is going to be a pretty neat race. It has defiantly perked a lot of interest for WotE.

The ATS guys have always been stand up guys with me as well. Wade when he was there, Mike and Clint. I had a couple of issues back in 2005 and they rectified it. I've ran a ton of their stuff and we currently setting up a triple CP set up based on a custom controller that Mike had made up for me. What I always wonder is who is goosing Kelli when she answerd the phone?:eek::D

I think there is one duramax truck running direct injection nitrous no?

Maybe, but the nitrous Dodge guys decided to limit their racing to 1/8th mile so the chargers would last a full pass or two even though gated, IIRC.

I've seen quite a few blow LLY/LB7 chargers as well as 66mm's on Dmaxes who spray 150+ rwhp, from overspeeding them at high EGT.

I have one name that disproves your theory. Camomax. Heck...what about Stingpuller...wasnt he running a smaller charger in the beginning?

Great.

Well, at least it isnt the other way around. Would be too much like the Place if it was. This thread sucks.

OK folk, let's not go into an ATS feeding frenzy. In either direction. Many know my opinion, but you won't see me posting it here, since it does not belong in this thread, nor does an Informercial for ATS, a non-vendor here that competes with shops here.

There have been plenty more failures compared to success stories Tom:D Camomax's truck is extremely impressive and is an anomaly. Case and point some trucks last some trucks don't.
