Quick update: pulled the turbo today and fixed slow leaking lower valve cover on driver side. Noticed passenger side was starting to leak as well! Removed other turbo and fuel crap and called it a day. Sending my turbo to HTT on Monday and my pedistal to Yellowchevy for port/polish. Regroup next sat to fix passenger side gasket issues and put what I can back together. On the bright side, I don't mind an opportunity to wipe down dirty parts!

So much easier to get to them up-pipes when there ain't no down pipe! The wheels are pretty tight. Shame about the dumb seals

Did you drop the tranny to pull the turbo? I haven't pulled the charger on this truck before (had a shop install the bd) How did you remove the drain? Other than the drain, everything else seems fairly accessible. Did you remove the up pipes and then undo the drain from the top?

Give the turbo some reach around:roflmao:

Its easy 2 12mm nuts and the drain line comes out sith the turbo

You just have to get really familiar with the passenger side wheel well...

We call it wheel well diving...:D

Dual pumps buddy FTW :D

One day that will become a reality my friend.

No need at all to drop the transmission! With no down pipe in the way it's very doable from the top. And again, topside creeper helps so much!

Overall I still believe they are great. I think most will agree that there are better turbos out there kinda like gas at a pump..... Your car will run on 86 octane just fine. Some people are just willing to cough up the dough for 91. They want the best and truly believe in the gains enough to look the other way at the price per gallon. Some guys have had these things on their trucks for YEARS and some like me have a bad experience. I think round two will bode well for me.... To clarify here's my reasonings and I could be wrong... When I got that s300 from BD I ran it as a single for a year and a half. My EGTs were still problematic and dangerous even after install. I think the 1600deg EGTs didn't help. It served as the high pressure unit for about a year. Now that I've got compounds the EGTS are much more under control. Only time will tell but like I said, tons of BorgWarner units out there with much better results.

Little update....

HTT called this morning and said the turbo is actually in great shape. Bearings looked like a bit of dirty oil went through but they said there was no oil behind the wheel. This puzzles me. We pulled my 1 year old s480 off as well and it's bone dry. The pictures don't lie, there's oil coming from somewhere. Maybe you guys can chime in here. They asked about my oil filter and I told em it's an oil free small filter right in front of the s480. I did have an exhaust leak @ the Vband on the hot pipe. This is all the info I got. Wish I had a def answer to where the oil is coming from.

Damian,

I was thinking about what we talked about on friday and I still can't figure out where else the oil could be coming from other than that seal, but being they said the turbo looks to be in good shape I just don't know.
I don't know nearly enough about turbos as some other do.

Sorry I wasn't able to help more.

Hey I appreciate all your input/help on this. Today we went at it again. Took the compressor housing off the big boy and NADA! Dry as a bone. Very odd situation here. I'm starting to think Utah is getting second hand high from Colorado lol jk. The oil drain on the small charger was not leaking as they thought it might have been. We got the passenger side valve covers re sealed/siliconed though. Can't wait for my new HTT hybrid to get here so I can get my baby going in time for the AZ races. Sure wish I had the twin pumps to reveal the potential of these spinners.

You were right though, this BD pedestal is a shit-show for flow. Talk about leaving something to be desired.
