I suggested that earlier in the thread, why ask us for help if u don't use it.???

The driver comes in a kit, the kit contains the front driver an the rear driver, 2 totally different seals. When u start buying parts at your local Gm dealership, if u talk nice they may let u borrow one,

Yeah, but if u sweet talk your GM garage they may hook u up, I'm not for sure but Advanced Auto or someplace like that may have the seal driver, if so u can do that tool borrow program they have, If your not going to building alot of these motors than I wouldn't buy a bunch of tools, spend the money on some more go fast parts.LOL :)

Couldn't you just take the adapter plate with the rear seal to GM and have them pop it out and install a new one? I cant see them charging to much if the part is already off in hand:confused: I am not sure about the front one without looking at my motor again to see if thats an option or not:confused:

Also does anyone know off the top of there head if these seals come in a GM rebuild kit? My engine builder got a complete kit but it has not arrived yet and I do not know if I still need to order theses seals seperate or not.

When you removed this seal did you remove the metal ring that is behing the front cover that is stuck to the crank you need Gm's tool with the fingers to pull this off in the front and the rear. Just ask Foster he thought he got his off and install the new seal and it made all types of noice and he had to get a new front main seal and redo it again.

Here is the metal ring red lines pointing to it.

And here is the one in the rear that has to be removed.

Dammit! Should have waited for your reply Henry. I went through the dealership. The parts were a few bucks more.

Thanks for the heads up. I seen it on there. Wasn't for sure if it needed to come off.

Does the new seal comes with that metal ring?

That's part of the seal, that ring is why u have to seal drive it, an can't install the seal in the cover then install the cover. that ring will come right off, I use a 2ft. screwdriver with slight pressure applying in several locations. then toss it in the trash.
On the front of the engine take a screw driver an ever so gently work the ring off, applying slight pressure every inch or two, patience, then take of the oil pump gear, then you can use a 2 jaw puller to pull the oil pump driver gear an the tone gear they come off in one piece they are bolted together again patience it will come off pretty easy with the help of the 2 jaw puller.
