If i understand the question, I think it's been done and is available for mass consumption. Pat and Kat sell 'em. It's a straight stainless bar IIRC.

I thought I read that it hurts the turning radius??

I can't speak to this personally, I don't have this part. I can only say that i witnessed somebody who did and it looked difficult to manuever the vehicle under generous conditions.

I attached a couple pickies, truck is coming along.

Need to get the trans up to Mike L, get the locker in, assemble the motor and drop it in, waiting on ONE part to start motor assembly. Tie some of the plumbing together and start working the bugs out. Prolly be rolling under it's own power in a month and de-bugging for a month or so after that.

I also attached a pict of the tie rods, somebody wanted a comparison.

for a minute there i thought you rigged up 2 tie rods? you are just useing that as a comparison?

Yea, comparison.

I replaced the sleeve because when i installed them originally there was a gap/space between the sleeve and the tie rod (the ID of the sleeve is greater than the OD of the tie rod). The inside edge of the sleeve actually acted as a "fulcrum point" moving the bend point towards the center link. I tested this with play doh putty of all things... The sleeve was and is better than stock, but i still had flex with 500 HP and 1000 TQ and a soft converter.

What was gonna happen when i ran alot more power and the converter hit 'em harder? Wierd stuff that wakes me up in the night...

It was easy to replace them at the point i was at, so i did.I hope to report positively back to the group. :D

I kinda liked the hiem jointed ones though, but im sure they did it for a reason

ive used play-doh for testing movement on air cleaners and the hood of cars before,it works good

I saw the heim jointed tie rods as well. I had to draw the line.

I have 9 heims in the rear end at this point, good ones, when they wear out i am looking at about a $600 bill for parts. If you take care of them they last but still...

Dragged a few more outta my archives.

On Saturday morning we will be in full tilt assembly mode, I'll have the LAST assembly part.

I can take the rad support and cab off again and finish the stuff around the motor.

When it's done i should be able to run any single or twin i choose and only change the exhaust and intake. As well it looks like i could change from one single to another in less than an hour, and i'm slow.

Picture of Guy's balancer if nobody has seen one.

New oil pumps are here!

I recieved the new oil pump from Curtis today. Very nice piece, nice machine work and fits perfect. LH thread, black anodized (good for a .10th:rofl:) and comes ready to bolt on. Curtis took his time and walked us through the installation, adjustable pressure and potential for oil squirter upgrades if I had stock pistons. It was pretty clear Curtis has been around the block and is very knowledgble.

It's a complete assembly. Flows 35% more oil, adjustable pressure at the front of the motor versus shimming the factory pump.

I'll post some pict's when i get home or Sunday.

If you wanna buy one contact dieselperformanceresearch.com or Dave Basham may have some soon as well.

If the hands in the pictures/manual look really LARGE... well you know what they say about guys with big hands....;)
