That truck pulled 2.6 at Scheid I thought.

He pulled 2.8 because he made about 200 ft and couldnt see the track anymore because of all the smoke in the cab when he does pull 2.6 here the only advantage we have is that they still cant drive it  but when they do learn to drive 2.6 is just gonna suck around here at my local pulls

he tried to pull 2.6 at the super pull but the 2.6 charger he brought didn't fly. Access denied. ;)

As far as his transmission.... I haven't seen rules that would get him kicked out for it IMO. That ever famous clause in all rule sets about "tech official has final say... blah blah blah" might snag him by a different interpretation but not by mine. No where does it say he can't have a clutch in an auto tranny and it is, otherwise just a built OE tranny with a manual valve body in it. There's not really a gray area there to me.

I'd say if their going to allow that, then just allow drop box and reversers too while their at it. I see your point where its one of the gray areas that needs to be tightened up a bit. There are alot of gray areas in the rules. thats why I don't believe the protrusion rule will work. If they really want to bring the power back and stop guys from dropping down then the only way to do it is option a) make it a true 66mm class, which the problem with that is who's to say what a true 66mm is. or b) go with the restricter tube idea. It does work, but its also going to be chopping off a guy's nuts who has put the time and money into his 2.6 truck to get it to run at the top of the pact.

I don't agree. A clutch in an auto trans is not equivalent to a drop box/reverser.

Let 2.6 make the current power it makes. Let the driveline limit it like it has been.:thumb:

Whats the power limit on a duramax driveline then? Look at Rick Smith's 3.0 truck Mad Max. he's still running an ally and aam

The weak link in a dmax is usually the front ifs. Yes the aftermarket sheet can still fail and has, but i trully believe the front half shafts and chinsy front diff will be the limiting factor, but on the other hand it takes BIG power in truck pulling to break front end parts. So i guess its still 6 to 1 half dozen the other

I see dana 60s breaking more front end parts on dodges and fords than i do ifs. If its set up right, its just as strong if not stronger imo.

JT I almost didn't recognize your truck in the videos,,, did they make you fix the exhaust leaks for the indoor pull??? lol

lol i haven't had an exhaust leak since sometime after Scheids. The blingin' wheels I burrowed for the indoor worked out great. Nobody knew it was my truck:happy2:

That kind of class takes a mid level money class (what 2.6 used to be) and makes it a deep pockets class (which it is now). And regardless of which class (other than an "unlimited"), limiting it by driveline is a road to a slow death of a class (just look at your pulling history books and what has happened to gassers and tractors in other areas of the country).

If you limit by power by drivetrain, guys can either limit power to save the drivetrain (some will), refuse to limit their power and keep breaking chit (until they can no longer afford it), or keep breaking chit and buying custom part$ and/or new part$ (many overnight to make the next points pull).

Limiting the class by drivelines is a deep pocket's best friend.
Pulling isn't cheap, but give 50% of a class a chance vs 5%. Limit power at the source and not at the ground....

The more you limit the 2.6 class, the more expensive it gets. Ever heard of Super Farm? Pretty simple turbo rules have turned it into Nascar.

I respect your $.02 and I have my own. I've read enough BS on the 2.6 class on another site and don't want to get into it on this one.
