That's what I thought............ If you want to have a good business that's gonna be around awhile.

I have ordered stuff from them and had great CS, but that post seems a little odd to me

I was hoping my post didn't come across that way, apparently I was wrong

Don't worry, Its nothing I would ever do. I was just trying to prove a point that there's a responsibility on both sides of a sale since you can't ever tell if a person is honest over the internet. I'd like to think my rep of great service and prices I've established on DF speaks for itself. Mike, I know you've bought stuff from me, and I gave you a damn good price as well :)

If someone f's people over, it doesn't take much for those people to figure out they've been taken. Hell all they'd have to do is get on fleabay and compare prices. And what goes around comes around in most cases. KB was screwing people over, and it came back to bite him in the ass. Thats not a reputation I intend to get in any way shape or form!

"Pulling a KB" is harsh.

Claiming the tubes as his own is the only about part of that deal that could be considered dishonest, IMO. He provided a "kit" that people were interested in buying. A kit that included parts from a manufacturer that had no interest in selling it as a package until they realized how great the demand was. I also believe that if Banks had originally sold this type of kit that thier price would have more than likely been in line with KB's, not what they are selling them for now..

I have a couple of his products and feel they are worth every penny paid.

my .02....

I thought it was kinda funny myself - and given his past of taking other peoples ideas and products, trying to monopolize them, and then over charging for them - I would have to say it is fitting. He claimed they were ceramic coated when they are very obviously just powder coated, and claimed them as his own. Banks has had part numbers for the tubes by themselves and the kit with boots for a LONG time. They don't list or advertise it on their site but any distributor for Banks products that I've dealt with does list them - and the price has always been the same.

My thing is if you want to help KB fund his "strenuous product research and developement" go ahead - but know that it is optional. You can buy the tube and boot kit for $150 from any Banks dealer and then send a check to KB for $130 just for chits and giggles - hell then you'll save him the time it took to make a call to Banks to put your order through and give him even more time to "design cutting edge products, based on completely unbiased engineering research". I saw someone in that thread call him a "well known engineer" - he is known around the aftermarket community for his antics, not his knowledge and research.

I agree 100% that KB was ripping people off big time. But there's a sucker born every minute that will buy up anything. With the right sales pitch I could sell glasses to a blind man! It's not like he's the first person to ever ripoff another person. it's happened to me, and I bet a lot of the people here before. Like every month when I pay my cell phone, or cable bill!!

I said this in that thread, but it's just as necessary for the buyer to know what he/she is buying as it is for the seller to sell it at a reasonable price. Kind of the fool me once/fool me twice debacle.

If someone wanted to pay $1000 for a Quad tuner thats worth maybe $300... it'd be tough to turn it down. Not sure what I'd do to be honest, it wouldn't be morally correct to say yes. But is it my fault if I take the money, or his fault for being the idiot who didn't know any better?

With all due respect, if you're complaining about KB "Ripping people off" with that tube, how about rod manufacturers? You can't tell me it costs $2000 more to make a set of Duramax rods than it does to make Small Block Chevy or Ford Modular rods.

I haven't followed this whole thing, but if when he started selling it, he was the only one, he essentially had the market cornered. Now that Banks is selling them, not so much. Like someone else said, if he hadn't sold them for $280 first, I have no doubt that Banks would have sold a similar kit for that or more.

I hink Banks had them first then stopped offering them in there kits so KB bought a bunch from banks then painted them and put his name on them. This is from what I hav read I have no idea what is really goin on, KB has not chimed in again

I have his stack seal kit installed. Before it, my cooling fan would engage on the freeway WITHOUT a load during the summer months. After install, quiet.

I also have his oil cooler. Does anyone else offer a Dmax specific one? Not that I'm aware. Does what I want. Price was fair.

You obviously believe there is a need for one too...:)

Well until they're as readily available, and the market is as saturated with dmax rods as the SBC market is, they can get away with the outrageous price. Simple suppy and demand issue, just like the game KB was playing. Once more mfr's start producing them, and the volume of product moved goes up, the price will inevidably go down. If there's shit for demand, then why bother making them if the market is already covered by the current mfrs'. Members on this site probably own half the dmax rods produced!

Actually Banks has sold the pipe only for a long time for $90. I wasn't aware they sold a kit with boots and clamps, but do you really think boots and clamps are worth almost $200?

Wow... I don't know how KB could show his face after that. Can't Banks go after him big time for this? If I bought that tube I would be.

This is why the will stay high in cost.# 97352631 LBZ these rods sell new for $314.19x8=$2,513.52 so buying aftermarket is cheaper then stock replacements.

Brandon it's easy to go on the I-10 and find semi tire tread, cut it up and scotch tape it to your stack. He's smart.:rofl:

Also waht bothers me and what I was looking for form KB was the fact that he always tells us this stuff is his. Then he will go in Banks threads and bash them about there testing on products and such. Not one person on DF was under the impression that that boost tube was built by banks, or even not built by KB himself. Money says if you would have called him, asked about turbo tube and said banks has it less he would have gave you some run around about IAT this TEMP that boost psi x 4538593 divide by ambient temp and then said that the banks tube is shit compared to HIS....

I understand, I hope you didn't think I was trying to accuse you of anything. Just seemed bad that a vendor would think that way, but I know you are not like that. Like I said you have treated me great and you do have a good rep for a reason.
