I've noticed mostly people with FASS/AIR DOG have the problem, and people with the 1792 dont seem to have many problems? Anyone else concur that?

its because with the 1792 or ppe pump uses factory pickup (which has a cup on the bottom of it) the air dog is a straw, and theres nothing at the end of it to keep the fuel at the bottom of the straw when the fuel start moving around.

I use a SD HV carter pump and a Socal pickup kit and can't run it down to less than 1/8th of a tank.....i think it's because of foaming, but that's my opinion

Well, I got my Hellmann's Sump today. I have some 3/4" pushlock fittings and I'll be starting this install in a day-or-day.
One thing I did today was build a S.S. screen to cover the sump in case any 'large' objects somehow got in the tank. (it has happened). I have one more minor tweak to make and I'll be moving foward!
Pics attached...........whatcha' think???

Looks great, I like the idea of the screen, if for nothing other than to make me feel all warm and cozy instead knowing Im not going to get pieces of a mouse stuck in my -10 AN lines.

Big Block, Joe @ Hellmanns sells them for $185 plus shipping. It seems a little pricey, but I guess it's worth it. (I'll let ya' know soon enough!);)

I work on a ranch and go offroad and into some pretty hairy terrain. Do yall think there would be any problems of knocking the sump off the bottom of the tank.

I should prolly do a DIY thread..............but, man, it seems like I'm alway's in such a hurry, I forget to take pics most of the time. All these years......I guess I should have been "sharing my mistakes"!! I'll see what I can do.........this is a pretty-straight-foward install. (drop tank, drill hole, install sump, re-install tank.):D

I think you should do a DIY thread it would be pretty kind of you to give a KS boy a heads up for when I'm in the states:D oh and I'll be your friend if you do:hug:

I had that concern too...........it will be somewhat exposed, but not as bad as you might think. If you keep the fuel line close to the tank and don't let it 'hang-down', you should be O.K. BUT.....murphy's law say's..............
I'll be building a skid-plate for my pumps, but not for the sump. I don't get too rough with mine when I'm off-road. (ON-road is another story!):D

one tip for the installers , sand the bottom of the tank smooth were the gasket will rest , it will help it seal better . and on my lb7 i had to cut the ring with the threaded holes in 1/2 for it to fit through the sender hole in the tank . i think the later year trucks have a bigger whole and shouldnt have to cut it .

is there enough material on the sending unit to allow a larger hole in the top of the tank

 i have heard the new tanks have a larger whole for the sending unit assembly, dont know for my self . but even if it doesnt just cut the ring in 1/2 . it will make sence when you are looking at the peices and the tank .

Or...........could just cut a slot in one side. Then 'fish' it in. The piece would look like a 'C'. You could put it in from the bottom, but you still need to clean the inside of the tank. I'll prolly be looking at mine (04'LB7) tonight and we will see if it falls through.

good idea !

doesnt matter much ether way the ring doesnt seal anything , just serves the same purpose as a nut , and to keep the plastic flat once tightend .
