Wore the rear pads off and caught a rotor
Both wore evenly

As with the theme of the truck.. mis-matched rear calipers in piston size....
Since rotors are inboard..... I put some cheap pads on,
got new rotors calipers pads, wheel seals coming.. swap everything when I get back from KS..
Front pads are 80% of new,
pads/rotors are same F/R

There's two caliper size (F) 2.6" and rear are either 2.6" or 2.8" if I can I'll put 2.8 all around..

Adam have you considered an AFC Live setup for the truck? will allow you to dial fueling on the go
I have it along with Max travel kit... Kinda useless until I get more fuel..

Thanks.. going on 6 years
When it's going good I can do well.. especially for a single guy with no kids..

I could have sworn I warned you that the turbo you picked out was too small. I think you have more than enough displacement to drive that S400.

You definitely mentioned you'd go with a 400 frame... Along with several others.... As which specific 400 you'd go with was never mentioned...

I have air flow
Intake valves float at 30-35#
Head lifts 35-40#

How big of a 400 do I go to reduce the risk I've overspending but small enough I'm not under it all the time. Peanut gallery is still out on that...

Only problem I have with the 362/68 is turbine wheel is too small which is bigger than the H1C I pulled off...

I errored on the small side vs big side

I took a blind shot in the dark with this setup.... Remember?

are you sure its boost pressure that lifts the head and not drive pressure? whats your current drive pressure? 9/10 times guys say boost popped a HG when really their drive pressure was double what boost was.

The guy that I posted about having a 8.3 in a f550 blew the HG out at 35-40#.... Was his drive pressure 2-3x boost IDK...
He also said 30+ boost holds intake valves open..

I currently don't have the cash on hand to find out if those are legit statements.....
Just about every common 400 frame turbo is capable of 45+

The 464 you posted should be a good turbo for you. You don't need a ton of flow on the compressor, but that big displacement will choke a turbine quick. I bet a 1.0 or even a 1.1 T4 housing would work well. It will definitely be a little lazier than what you have now, but once you're rolling, it should respond quickly. If you have the funds, I would probably step the turbine wheel up to an 87 though.

throw a drive pressure gauge on there now and see where you are at. if it floats valves at 30psi of boost, those gotta be SUPER low pressure springs in there. a duramax stock spring seat pressure can be shimmed up to about 75psi seat pressure till you run into coil bind issues and those hold 50-60psi boost pressure just fine.

Pacbrake makes valve springs capable of 60# of drive pressure for their 8.3 exhaust brake... Intake/exhaust are the same... Logically they should be fine up to 60# of boost... ..

Iirc OEM spec is ~100lb closed seat pressure

I too would recommend this turbo. I had one with a .9 t4 housing on my lbz. No wastegate though. If your worried about boost you may want to put a gate on it but with a 1.1 you may not need it.

whys that?

well the 2.88" piston is too wide designed for a rotor/pad that's ~1" wider
ordered the 2.6 version which are more $$ than the 2.88......

got a 3.5" 6pt socket.

pull the damaged side off.. check everything over... clean the stuff, go to install new wheel seal... doesn't work... its .100" bigger than what I pull out... napa has what I need of course I find out 15 minute prior to them closing its.. 25 minute ride in :bang

put new rotor/pads on, reuse old seal, load tomorrow at 0700 come home swap new wheel seal and do the non damage side as well....

did try and see if I could get some stemco pro torque nuts.... but rs15-120 isn't covered....

Well had the clutch go completely out of adjustment in one stroke in downtown Philly yesterday, T/O is shoved up against the transmission.... From what I'm told the adjustment ring pulled loose... Not a common failure but does happened
Valiar is sending me off a new one under warranty.. missed the truck yesterday.. so it goes out Monday..

Gues it's a good time to get some of the little stuff done... Finish getting brakes all the way around, spacer for the fan so I can run the air fan clutch and AC.. get electric Windows working
Turbo/pump/front leaf springs/fuel tanks/AC components, CAC/radiator
All need replaced/upgraded
Course list is always bigger than money in the bank..... Basically in project..
Be in the 50s all week nice wrenching wheather :thumb:
