Got dash in, tank sending units wired, lift pump relay properly mounted, manual control of the fan Clutch done,

Went up an Down my driveway.. ~1/2 mile long got it up to 55ish fairly easily.. haven't put AFC live on it yet.. truck does 12psi of boost and 650° egt with stock fueling..
Think I got room to work with it..

Let it idle for a bit... It decided to left me know I fogot to tighten the lower radiator hose clamp...by putting 4-5gallons of coolant on the ground..

Better to find that out in the driveway than on the highway.

Glad she is up and running on her own power. :woott:

Got it scaled minus few things, 55g in a tank, should mid 10k once done..
9700lbs isn't alot of wieght for a 8.3..
My LMM was 7500lb with 60gl and fully loaded 4100/3400 split

TX of course
So are you going to gain any Net Weight with the Mut or where you already maxing out the GN with your Lmm? I guess that is assuming your running the same GN as before...

GN is pretty much maxed out with the LMm and ~29k.. the FL 60 will be able to handle more if needed.. basically a tandem 15k Trailer or 40k trailer.
End of the day the FL60 will handle a 30k trailer better than a 3500 will
Jumping from a class 3 truck to a class 6 truck and I'll be ~3-4000lbs heavier tare.. means I bump IRP plates from 36k to 40k, while maintaining 20k on deck capacity...
Avg single axle class 8 is 16k and up

Might be able to shave some wieght with Aluminum wheels and tanks etc. That's options for down the road..

Hopefully I'll be able to break even with fuel/Maintenance cost or do better.. if I pick up 1-2mpg avg over 100k miles, currently low 10mpg, 2mpg increase is a 2700 less gallons of fuel I'm buying.. ~$8100.00 year in fuel cost that stays in my pocket going off the $3.00 gallon diesel price up here in Ohio.

Cummin 8.3 in-frame runs about $5000 in parts.. with Cummins parts with some 500k service life.. trans/diff both have a 24M warranty unlimited miles.

I was hoping I could come in under 10k ready to roll out.
Seeing first hand what I've put in this...I can be content with weigh 10.5-11k with ~100-150g fuel and load out ready... I know guys running 4500/5500 CC dodge/Ford trucks that are pushing 12-15k just the truck..

Sorry about the long winded ramble

So how does it ride with the trailer on it does it seem to have enough power and brakes?

Are you going to tint the windows so that you can catch some zzzs during the day or do you have black out curtains?

Glad to see all that work and the project coming closer to completion for you
You worked hard I hope the truck rewards you this year with minimal down time and decent fuel mileage congrats.

Brakes yes
HP... It's getting there... Found a guy that's built a 8.3 to ~700/1600, he said intake valves float at 30# head gaskets goes about 35#.. s300 chargers don't like ran hard.. 8.3 eats the 360° thrust washers up.
He is run HS/MS 120# valve springs camshaft 13mm pump injectors and a 472/83 .9 T4 turbo, 4gsk...18° with 140° injectors.

I'll probably r&d some of the stuff he's done.. I don think I'll go that hot.. figured solid 500-550@ crank should be plenty.. I can roll as it for right now.. probably bumped form 275 to mid 300 with fuel plate and AFC adjustments.

Windows rear get 5% front need to have 70% visible light transmission per cmv regs. Idea would be replacing windows with 0 tint then tint with tint like suntek cir tint https://www.suntekfilms.com/automotive/automotive-cir.aspx or comparable variant.

Glad to see your back on the road making some money though. You have definitely put a lot of time and effort into keep that trailer moving and making money. Kudos to you for that.

Nice! Does the fuel consumption come close to the old truck? How loud was the cummins going down the road with a load and ride quality? I ask about the noise because in the video it sounded straight piped.

And if it were me I would be looking for some fenders for the rear.
Something like these http://www.truckntow.com/buyers-polymer-single-half-fenders.html
Base line low 8mpg, with who know what for stock timing... Stock is supposed to be 11° it's probably little louder than lb7... Not a lot of sound reduction in/on the truck... Alot of wind noise..

It's sure beats the WH1C that was on it...
And alot better than going too big.. most likely swap to a 463/83

Your MPG sounds inline with what I've seen from 2 different motorhomes with the 12 valve 8.3l in them. I logged quite a few miles in one, and weight didn't really seem to matter, speed wasn't a huge factor either, you could count on 8 1/2 out of it in the mountains, on the flat, towing, or empty. My neighbor has a 32 or 34 foot pusher with one in it, and he is right at the same no matter how he drives it. That said, I know somebody with an 8.3l ISC, and he said he's seen 11-12 out of it.
