I want to watch Adam and Kyle 01duramax6spd take on Ben in a debate on the merits of solid axles, ABS, tires with tread vs bald tires you guys are always entertaining.
lol i bet my 99 GMT-400 w/o abs and treaded tires with factory straight axle, will haul 26,000 GVW to a stop faster then Ben's truck will ;)
my tires are basically worn down to slicks. :D

i cant get caught with slicks... or less then 4/32 (f) 2/32(r)
500.00 a tire plus road side service

lol I think youre forgetting your truck has a 5,800lb higher gvwr than mine does. And I think you mean "GCWR", not GVWR, lol.

The true test is load my truck to max GVWR (IE, put enough shit in the bed to make it 9200lbs), and then load your truck to max GVWR (IE, put enough stuff on your rear frame/plastic tire fender thingies to make your truck weigh 15,000lbs), and then do some tests to see which truck stops first while swerving around an obstacle on wet pavement.

trailers really shouldnt make any difference. Isnt that what trailer brakes are for??? lol. You've even said in previous threads your truck has horrible brakes, isnt that why you did some upgrade or something a while back? And you said it still wasnt "perfect"

And what does solid axle versus IFS have to do with stopping in a straight line on dry pavement? Straight axle? lol. Take a look at your front axle. It isnt "straight" at all lol. []-\____/-[]

I know you're just one of those people who refuses to embrace/appreciate technology and nothing I say will ever make you think you are any less of a driver than ken block or mario andretti (and thus "dont need no stinking special brake technology"), so in that case, Im done arguing. I already gave you what you need to figure out how to fool the DOT officers (the ELK960 delay timer). Now order one up, get it wired, and have fun!

yep DID have horrible brakes brake fluid was black, big hunking single piston calipers.. now huge dual piston calipers and clear brake fluid. much better!!

i said 26,000 GVW and ment that. :D

if I-beam axle was sooo outdated why does every class 5 truck and up run I beam? :D
this truck will corner better then the 02 i have.

BTW iirc you swapped out you rotors and calipers too.......

waiting on the mail man to deliver the stuff so i can make money.. :woott:

they just want to see the lights "working" their words not mine

Since we're arguing semantics here, you would load a vehicle to GCW (gross combined weight) or GVW(gross vehicle weight). GCWR and GVWR are the weights a vehicle is rated to carry, hence the "R" at the end. It does not denote the weight of a vehicle.

wrapping up my fuel filter setup been useing the stock GM for f/w sep and the bf7587 as primary fillter..with a service interval on a C15 about 25,000 miles... im looking at changing them every 75k or so

wix 24770 (30.00 through summit) no peecock(1/8"npt) did put one on to bleed the filter but not need on a dmax with electric pump
baldwin BF7587 or wix 33674 primary fuel filter (18.00 summitracing)
baldwin BF1259 or wix 33406 w/f secondary (20.00 summitracing)
1/2" npt by 3/8" barb and 1/2"npt by 1/2" barb couplers
summit and napa carry wix filters for those that dont know

finally got my V2 working..
got some quick logs
havent found the PIDs for just main injection and pilot inj seperat of each other or pulse width seperate either the main pulse and timing seams to log combined ie on the pulse it was 80mm3 at 180mpa which is 875uS and its login 1200 with 275uS pilot for main injection on time...

fuel pump need to be stronger get ~1-2000psi diff at wot. im sure it would be worse if it wasnt there

and the hunt for better MPG is on!

check the protrution.
1) .010 2) .0085
3) .008 4) .013 (split piston)
5) .010 6) .011
7) .0085 8) .008

i have no accurate way to check rod length.. (6.42")
#2 and #8 might be bent or or #4 grew... or i didnt do a good enough job measuering

so much for useing protrusion to check for bent rods.. all 8 range from 6.4195-6.4200 thats .0005" split between them....
new pistons are are the shop score mark is going to clean up as well..
bore and balance everything else is stock replacement is the only thing that is getting done. i was avg 12.5mpg with summer fuel down to 11 with winter.. power wise still runing stock 06 van fuel with timeing and boost increase. i pulled timing for winter fuel..

#4 injector is getting tested as well.

bearings looked decent but we found silcone adhesive where some one stuck a data plate on the block between 3/5 cylinders and a freeze plug with a fuseable link in it. which would indicate might have more then 14X,000 miles so i spent the extra on new bearings.
17:1 oval only piston like these are what i got.

So tuning is staying the same? I'm curious to see how the pistons affect fuel economy.

yes.

IMO the only thing i see changing would be timing and VVT% for the increased displacement.
i dont have the tranny built to handle the increase of power even add an extra ~110hp to put me at the stock 06/07 truck of 360hp. i would like to get up to 400fwhp

compression bumped to 17 from 16.8.. jon basicly talked down from going to 17.5.

this is the load that i was hauling when i broke. trailer is ~16,000lb with a 7x7 sail area. heade to wisconson sunday if everything goes well.

Adam don't mess with the VVT % yet unless you notice that desired boost and actual boost differ significantly. The vane position (%) is commanded by desired vs actual boost and only limited by the (%) min and max vane tables. Don't want you to over speed your turbo after your fresh build :)
