hooked the highside of the VSS line to then #54 on C2 and grounded the other low side.. no dice. on the speed o..

did a 1000 mile trip yesterday.. from springfield ohio to richmond VA with the truck and trailer and my brother went to pick up a CCLB 2500 dodge frame. our worse milage was 10.5 and best was 13 avg 70mph. with just added timeing and driveabilty stuff done to then tune. 5% i can run 70+ up empty with the dmax 6.5 55 in 3rd.. 7% grade is 63mph holding 4th.. brother was driving when we hit the 7% on I64 in VA, he said i think something when wrong i cant accel! i told him its a 7% grade.. the big trucks are having hard time doing 30mph and with 250hp im pleased its doing that!
only picture i snaped was this thought it was pretty cool. kinda surpprised that there wasnt that much trublant air between then truck and trailer..

For the speedo you need to go inside and and take teh VSSB output wire and hook it to the ECM output. The ECM output will not trigger the VSSB as it is looking for an AC input.

this what i have founds

the dash signal is 4kppm signal circut #389 (Dk green) which is a pin #15 on the VSSB which is a VSO
there is a 128kppm cir #1827 (yel/blk)pin #10 the is a VSO as well it goes to the EBCM(abs which is removed) in the 99 setup.
which one am i after?

Coming out of the VSSB is 3 differrent outputs, 1 for the speedo, one for the radio(SCV), and another for the ABS. The ABS is a 128K PPM signal, and the SCV and speedo is a 2K PPM signal. I hooked the ABS up to the 128K, and hooked the 2K PPM output up to both the radio and speedo and all works well. My speedo is SCARY accurate as you fine tune the speedo so well with EFILIVE.

cir #817 4kppm (t-case, radio, evo pass lock)
cir #389 4kppm (dash)
cir #1827 128kppm (ECBM/ABS)

the lead he left me is 821(L)/822(H) which has the 99 oem VSS connector that i sent him.

if it helps. My parents had a 98 GMC 3500 crew cab long bed 4" lift on 34s 454/4l80e with the older bigger whipple charger on it (think it was a 2.1L). we used it to haul our 35 and 40ft toyhauler fifth wheel. loaded they weighted around 16-18k. We put 70k on the truck (supercharger went on with 1000miles on the truck) and trans never gave a hint it was gunna slip or give up. Dad wasnt really light on the throttle either :D. we sold it with 70k on the clock as he was afraid the trans and other parts would start givin up the ghost so dunno how long it actually lasted. Plus he had just ordered my current truck since they just came out :woott:

another intresting thing i found out today is the 4l85 that came in htne 3500 HD C&C and VAN C&C ran straight cut pinion gears vs the helical gears in the other trucks kinda gives me a warm fuzzy about it

Why not use an 01 oil pressure sender tied into the existing OP circuit, and run it from the front oil galley plug, same as the 01s? IIRC didnt that one work the same as the OBS trucks...not Class2 data, just a straight-up sender?

Coolant temp....make an adapter for the upper hose or tap into the upper pipe, then tie into your existing circuit.

IF you have a late model 99 4L80E it is the beefy unit, if it is a early unit it is a run of the mill 4L80E I believe. 99 mid year seen alot of improvements in the 4L80E trans.

got first run it... hauled soem casting rock from cinci to nashville area 3200lb easy run.. picked some bushhogs for the trip back.. 12,200lb worth 6' 7' and two 15'ers
had lift pump issues.. anythign past 75% throttle for extended time (ie grade) i would throw a P0087.. also ran out of fuel on the road.. front tank was dry back was basiclly full.. even with the trottle limit i was pulling 5% grades at 50mph:woott: 6.5 did it at 33mph still running 250hp mpg is up from 9mpg to 12mpg did see 13.5mpg on one tank best the 6.5 got was 14 with no trailer. grade speed 5% is alomst double 30 vs 55mph and avg cruisign speed in 50 vs 65

anothing some migh be intrested in is the stall in the TC which is stock fro the 6.5 at 1500-1600rpm on this truck.. idle at 650 1000rpm im rollings.. idle it will move the hole thing at 25,000 at 1mph. i can actually see my 1-2 shift vs the 1056 on my old truck was maybe a 100rpm drop. comparing this tc to then 1056. the 1056 is sloppy and loose FWIW both my truck and a dmax both have relative same first gear final ratios 3.1*3.73-11.56 mine 2.48*4.63+11.48..
going to get AC put in truck got a 2micron fuel filter to put in as well and probaly swap both tanks out for ten 60gl pete saddle tank i have.

Looks good! You're definitely heading in the right direction with the truck. A little more fine tuning and it's going to be a fun money maker

Yeah seems like people on there think that fuel is free or something, i've looked a few times but when I calculated it out most of the hauls weren't worth it. I've been kicking the idea around of seeing if there were any short hauls from northern indiana rv capital to the tri state area since im up that way every wknd, what would be required to do that?
