That's not too bad considering the hard life b

i know, i cant complain too much... i actually thought it was worse, too the fact that i turned a load down, cause IDK the extent of the damage..

its one of two major component that hasnt been rebuilt/replaced, rear axle being the other which is a 37 spline D80

im sure the tranny will need rebuilt/replaced

frist problem with my 4l85
burn the **** out of(clutches are black) FC, DC packs, 2nd manual band, discolored forward clutch drum, and the 16 sprag intermediate sprag freely spins both directions, the bearing/bushing in between then FC and DC is gone as well.

the intermediate clutch, overrun and over drive clutchs(4th gear) are still nice and brown.

Do you run 4th gear much or just on flat ground?

Anything over 50mph 4th is while loaded i manually keep it out of 4th if speed limit is 45 or less. It lugs and hunts 3/4th
pending load size/weight/truck traffic i run everything less then 5% grades in 4th at 65-70.6% i slow down to ~60 run 3rd @2800rpm helps keep temps down and i use less throttle climbing. Fan is more responsive at the up rpm due to increased air flow

bout 1500 miles on it.. tranny shifts alot better!! TC doesnt seam to be hurt and functions normally.. 1-2 2-3 shifts are alot more crisp and firmer

really like to get an aftermarket TC it would help drop tranny fluid even more..

killed another airtex 3540.. it was very hot when i pulled it off the truck yesterday.. it wouldnt move fuel..

going to be replacing it with one of these 8845 and a regulator with fuel filters between the pump and regulator. this IMO will allow for more circulation thus cooling than is allowed by the engine's use
30psi/55gph vs 15psi/35gph
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/atx-e8845/overview/
and it will fit nicely in the stock location area

I find your dedication to a project truck that you use to make your living, without getting discouraged by the problems that come along with it, pretty impressive. Especially with the amount of miles you're racking up on that thing.

Keep it up man. :thumb:

i wouldnt say i dont get dicouraged with it.. when i dropped the pan today and saw brass and aluminum shavings in the bottom and black stuff(later reliazed its been ~6,000 miles and the kolene steels are wearing in).. my heart sank.. i just put new stuff in it 4-5 weeks ago.. pulled the tranny appart didnt find anything wrong.. sigh of relief there...

i will admit i was looking at/for newer trucks today
this caught my eye.. i'd loose the mortiz bed.. thats allmost 1000lb by itself..

That new truck would be a nice upgrade for sure. But I think it is cool you keep working on the other one to make a living. Good work.
