They only difference I've seen in the 1500 is the Silverado has a slightly different grille and headlights with LED daytime running lights. I haven't noticed any difference in the GMC 1500 since 2014 when they came out, but I don't keep up much with half ton stuff. I don't remember seeing pics of a Silverado in that article either, so maybe it did get the same updates as the 1500 version. I don't really know.

The 2016 has a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay support, and wireless charging.

I think lane keep assist and a couple other things as well.

The base model headlights are now HID's...yes, even work trucks have HID's. Top level trucks have LED headlights.

And finally, the 2016+ cab structure was strengthened around the door sill and A-pillar to improve small-overlap frontal crash performance...

I was talking about exterior styling, but thanks for the info. It's nice to know what has changed. Now if only we knew what was changing for 2017...

I'm not old enough either Hahaha! I just study vehicles.

I think we've both noticed the trend. Just some years the transition period is longer than 1 year. I think the '01 2500 was a two year transition from '99.

I don't know anything about the gear vibrations.

How's the fishing been down your way? Did the reds show up yet?

I'm an offshore kind of guy. Haha. But I work for a ton of charter captains and the red fish never really leave here. They just school up on tidal flats and slowly circle and occasionally eat.

So the '88-91 3/4 and 1 ton trucks don't count?

It's been a trend with GM to not change the 20 and 30 series with the 10 series.
That was a tricky one because GM DID come out with a new body style for 2500 and 3500 trucks, but they also kept the old body style on until 91 in limited production. Essentially GM had 2 different truck lines going from 88-91. It was the SUV's that didn't get the new body style until 92.

I just realized they said hood scoop. Haha, I bet they change to the new style grill, head lights, fog lights, front bumber, hood and tail lights. At least I hope...

As far as I know, it was only the crew cab pickups that kept the square body design with the SUVs. They did keep the old body style 3/4 and 1 ton trucks until 2001 when they released the Duramax though.

Stopped By the Military Sales on base to see if they knew anything about it and apparently they dont do Gm products :(

If your talking about that military auto source thing they don't do GM cause at a dealer you get the GM military discount. Less than MSRP. Out here in Okinawa they harass you at the Px and I always say sell GM and we can talk.

I always liked the Chevy better than the GMC but just personal preference. I hope they do more than add a functional hood scoop for $70k. Hell I had that on my LLY and it only cost a grand.

The hood scoop will be functional. The air intake will be liquid cooled.
