I was just digging for my custom LMM std trans bin, but don't see it on this PC. However I found a link to this other uncommon LMM version which may be of some help. I actually use the 4Lo wire in this version to control RPM and Torque limits based on grounding one pin. IE: Valet Mode, or Lo Gear Mode is how I use in stand alone setups.


I'll keep digging for other LMM copy and the bit map to switch it. If can't find, I know who has it mapped. It's only 1 bit...

Does OS 1268777 accept VSS to the ECM?

The Bin file that you have, you said its just one byte change? Does that then "activate" the VSS input?, clutch pedal?, how about Reverse switch input or trans temp? Then theres the whole question of will it transmit that reverse and temp data over the GMLan. So many things to check out lol

Found that NOG version while researching those normally unused TCCM related circuits. Been a while since was in it, but that version was specifically related to the floor mount shifter transfer cases model. Since there was never was an actaul standard transmission E35B, the rest was just hacked out of a stock file.
I know EFI added options to change the Speedo Input from CAN to VSS on E38 and some others, but not sure if they ever got around to the E35B. I have an E35B setup on the bench with VSS line active. But don't believe it outputs the speed as TCM would.

Was just reading through your old post. Looks like the ecm will read vss but without a custom bin it errors out and doesn’t feed the bcm what it needs for speedo.

Found an old post stating Kory had built a custom manual trans file for LMM maybe I’ll see if he is interested in building a base file.

Oooh look at that, is it coincidence that P0833 is a clutch pedal code. Or maybe I might actually be doing something here. Who knows, I sure don’t but this stuff is cool.

Update: I’ve decided to narrow down my approach, the results I was getting I think were too broad and just too much info.

I’m now focusing on one single common OS since it is used in both auto and manual applications. I’ve used efi to copy over every difference and disable all codes in an attempt to single out the data differences between manual and auto.

Below I have taken the same file with the only difference being the Speedo segment swapped out. (I imagine part of what makes a manual OS a manual OS is in the Speedo segment. And I got a result of only 15 bytes different. Now that I think I can work with. I’ll repeat the process to single out difference between all segments. Then I might want to start trial and error on a E35A ecm and see what segment does what exactly. Afterwards I plan to use the same method to single out the dtc addresses since they won’t be mapped in an auto Lmm file.

I think I’m getting somewhere, definitely learning a lot. It would be interesting to disassemble the code and be able to see the machine process if I make it that far.

Well I’m hitting a brick wall with this. I’ve compared multiple auto vs standard transmission bin files, some same OS some not. And I cannot find any consistency in the differences. Every file has different set of addresses different and different values in the addresses that are shared. I know I’m missing out on a lot of what I need to know to do this. I guess I thought I could find a pattern easier than it is. I’ll keep researching and digging. Kid turbo stated it is only one bit to activate, thought it would be easier to narrow down.

After some much needed rest I jumped back on this. Using what kidturbo said that it is only a single byte switch. Researched how to find “switches” in binary files. Here I’ve located what I beleive to be a switch, possible for manual trans. When I flip over to 8-bit it reduces down to a 001-000 in one file and 001-001 in the other file. Far as I can tell it’s the only switch that is different between these files and since one is auto and one manual maybe this is it. I’ll compare some other manual vs auto files to confirm. I think i should be able to realize the pattern of bytes leading up to the switch or possibly it will be in the same address in every file. Feeling good about it. Gonna keep grinding.

I looked for that base file on my main laptops, but it's been 5yrs so must be on the old old PC. Will dig thru that one when I get home later this week. The copies I did find are highly modified, so would be no good for comparison.

Going through a LMM file now and in the same addresses its blank, ill have to check more perhaps some LMM OS have the necessary data and some dont.

Havent dug into the BIN file much more yet, been studying youtube videos and such trying to learn more.

I did however dig into the car. Heads are actually easier to pull than in a pick up :) Got good LMM donor, had the heads sent out for new guides, grind, and re surface, they came back looking like brand new. Started to sort out the wiring. Ill be able to really clean things up this time, I think ive decided that im gonna go for more of a custom look under the hood this time. maybe low mount alternator, let the intercooler pipes flow more over the front of the engine, you know, so it looks cool lol. Keep the wires low and out of site. Gonna ditch the Glow plug module.

I mentioned before that i wanted to try a parallel twin turbo setup on this car. I've got a handful of these old GM8's and they've been burning a hole in my pocket for years haha. Here is a couple pictures on mock up of what i was thinking. I'm very undecided on them, i think they give it some wow but what i really wanted was to be able to run true dual exhaust. With the lack of space between engine and fire wall i haven't been able to figure a way to run two down pipes even if they were 2inch diameter. Big as i can fit is 3 inch, i though maybe a divided 3 inch pipe that Y'd out at each end but that still is tight and ive got brake and fuel lines right there also. So basically i have been staring at these turbo like this for a few days trying to talk myself into the challenge, OR the donor engine i bought has a brand new stock turbo on it that im sure would work just lovely in a compound setup. I just dont know if i want a turbo sticking out the hood ( ah who am i kidding of course i do) Have a look let me know what you think? Are compounds the way to go? will these twins give me enough headache down the road ill want to pull them off anyway?
