Duckbill snap-ring pliers and fiddling is about the only advice I can offer on that and try not to gouge the seal surface - leads to leaking into the transmission, lol.

Yeah, but used cases are a gamble too. Here, he can rebuild it (cheaper than $800) and have practically a new case and sounds like he enjoys doing things like this.

    2006 LBZ 4wd Issue

The mode fork looks acceptable to me(*optional replacement*, as it is a wear item), as long as there is no grooving in the plastic, the collar looks great. The only wear part in there is the synchro that I posted a picture of earlier you'll want to check out. You'll also want to pick up a...

Also, to let you know your price to fix is going to go up here. Especially, if you need a new planet and input shaft - planets are typically around $80-140 and input shafts $50-120 on ebay. The range fork and hub together are roughly 78.00.

New range fork and range hub for sure. I need to see the planet and input shaft after you've cleaned those to tell - as the planets teeth look a bit damaged to, but I can't tell 100%. Also, I've been erroneously calling those parts the "mode fork and mode collar". That is the bigger collar and...

Mode collar also looks like it has been heated up a bit on my phone.

Hmm, I can't tell from my phone but it looks like that fork is messing the delrin pads. Which is metal on metal contact if that's the case. That'd be the big issue if so.

Yeah, I'm going to go on a whim and say every bearing in the case isn't in great shape. Likely had some oil starvation issues. You're going to need a blind hole bearing puller to get the lever bearing out (don't try hammering it out or you will damage the machined surface and have leaks into...

Take special note of the bearings, especially if that fluid on the bottom of the case feels "pasty". One easy way to get the chain out is remove the main-shaft support bearing snap-ring, the bearing, reluctor wheel, oil pump, then both sprocket snap-rings; from there you can slide the...

There's rebuild kits that will include the common wear items: Chain, bearing; seals and case-half. However, they won't include the forks that have the infused plastic on them(if your's is the older style); the mode synchro, nor any hard-parts that may be worn past tolerances. I would expect...

Looks like water incursion to me based on the color. That could be one of the seals, cracked vent tube or the hose. They're not bad taking apart, you just have to be diligent to watch what parts are worn. This is the part that I am wondering if it is worn, as it doesn't sound like it is...

The front differential is open on these trucks. It is normal for the torque to go to the tire with the least traction, which is exactly what you're experiencing. A slight hum and vibration is also normal from these cases while under load and more pronounced with more drive-line bind: The noise...

    263hd and 263xhd

Actually, I'd need to see the shift range hub or the forks to accurately tell you. There's a new and an old design. The 263xhd and 263hd fork will swap, but you CANNOT swap them if one has the old range hub and the other has a new, they have to be swapped together. The hold style is the fork...

Yeah, not sure how they denote their classifications but the HP4 is similar in operation to the CP3. The HP0 is similar in operation to the CP4.2, 2 piston and they can be configured to pump up to 4 times per revolution versus the 2 the CP4.2 does.

I think those are their G4S line of injectors too, but I'd need a better picture to tell. They're solenoid like the LB7-LMM but fire quicker and return a lot less fuel. Basically the benefits of peizos but cheaper to produce.

It's a HP4. The HP3 is a 2 piston pump. I found the denso service documents online already. 3.3 HP3 Type (1) Construction and Characteristics • The supply pump is primarily composed of the pump unit (eccentric cam, ring cam, two plungers), the SCV (suction control valve), the fuel temperature...

That's the diesel oxidation catalyst - It's there to promote fast lighting and reduces emissions quicker than having it further downstream.
