Not sure. Possible heat sensitivity - engine bay hotter with the trailer load behind you? Is it possible the code reader you're using is displaying the wrong code, or only capable of displaying a few of the possible TCM codes and there's another one besides the P0700 and P1781 you're not...- dndj

This P1781 code is specific to the 1 wire circuit what exists between the ECM and TCM on which the TCM signals to the ECM to turn on the SES/check engine light. Since the TCM cannot drive the SES/check engine light directly, when the TCM has a trouble code it signals to the ECM to turn the...- dndj

P1781 for the 01-02s is the same as P0802 from the 03-05s, if that helps with your research. Ever changed out your ignition switch? Sure sounds like a momentary voltage interruption to the TCM to me. Try unplugging the connectors at the TCM and checking for corrosion, etc.- dndj

This is consistent with the factory service manual for the LB7. Need to turn the key off for 5 sec after the security light goes out, then attempt to start again. Starts after the 3rd time.- dndj

Rear axle widths?
Assuming 2500HD? Track width is exactly the same between GMT800 and GMT900 at 66". However, I'm seeing the dimension from center line to outside of rear spring as 26.2" in the earlier trucks (2003, for example) vs. this being 25.69" in the GMT900 (2009 as example), so like 1/2" different...- dndj

2009 DRW axle in an 02
Need to check this closely. I had to research this in detail before I flatbedded my 2003 dually. Dually chassis cabs have 2 different dually axle widths - a 66.8" track standard or a 74.7" track width with the GTY RPO option. The 74.7" track width is the same as what the dually pickups get...- dndj

Hmm. I don't understand how these codes could be set and not produce an ABS light in the cluster. Your best bet at this point is to get someone with a GM Tech 2 scanner that can read the individual left/right front wheel sensors and verify they are operational. GM dealer can do it as well... -

Have you tried clearing the codes? Do they come right back? ABS codes only get set for wheel sensor troubles the vehicle speed goes over 8 mph. Oversized tires? -

Left front and right front wheel sensor. Odd that both would be bad at the same time. Is the ABS indicator illuminated in the cluster? Oversize tires? Also try and clean/retighten the EBCM (electronic brake controller module as GM calls it - commonly known as the ABS module) ground... -

Yup. ECM takes all the cruise inputs from the turn signal stalk & basically runs the cruise control in the LB7. If all wiring problems / sensor input issues have been ruled out, I do think it's possible that someone flashed a tune on the truck like a decent chance someone flashed the ECM with... -
