    Cracked Piston solutions?

Oh now I've tried it several times ya know... And failed every time.. LOL... My experience with Duramax pistons, no matter who's name is on them, if ya bust one, the rest are guaranteed to follow. 1 bad piston will ruin the whole bunch...

March '23 Chat -- "Drive to the sound of your own turbo"

Have seen a few good wild strap damage pics over year, and that one is up there. Most damage to date, my engine build hauling his big Snap-on box in the bed of of Dually Dmax. Backed over it, took out dual cover, bed side, and the toolbox.

LBZ - Rescaling MAP Sensor in EFI Live

Yeah know I was thinking we did that for the LBZ also, but link is in EFIlive forum maybe. Either way, check over there, and post the question if ya don't find it. That's where I got the original cax file to do it the LMM.

Truck Market Update Nov 2019 I purchased an 2013 F350 King Ranch Dually with 240k on it at dealer cost straight from Tampa auction, and sold it today wholesale, with an extra 80k on the odometer, for the exact same price.. Growing up around the car biz, ya learn the market, and how to spot...

What to do with extra High Speed GmLAN lines

The Class 2 data is where it gets tricky, cause GM ditched it in like 07, and everything after has only High Speed GMLAN there after. It was a single wire CANbus data line, that I never really took time to learn all it's functions. Main reason I suggested upgrading to the LMM version, everything...

Bare minimum of upgrade parts needed for longevity for a sub 700hp build.

Thought I put all the pics up here somewhere, but this is only one I found. Basically clearance the pump about 0.120" behind the crank reluctor ring, and cut end off the gear shaft so it will clear the cover. Slight notch on the pan edge and done.. That said, we also learned the gear shaft from...

What to do with extra High Speed GmLAN lines

The twisted canbus wires route a bit differently on the Duramax from a gasser. First forget the J1939 points, LBZ didn't have it, unless you have an ECM from a 4500. So off the ECM you have a couple twisted tan wires, those are what ya want. Now in the Dmax, those ran straight to the GPCM on...

Bare minimum of upgrade parts needed for longevity for a sub 700hp build.

Yeah as stated above, the LML pump is an advance cut-to-fit machining job. Hand rolled design that a GM tech buddy and I came up with while back. The LML had a good bit larger Round pickup tube, along with a pump that uses thicker gears, IE more volume / capacity. This change came with the...

Bare minimum of upgrade parts needed for longevity for a sub 700hp build.

I was just looking at a gauge pic this morning, and mine peg an 80psi gauge at stat up. So that sounds completely reasonable that front valve starts dumping around 85-90. However I'm running those modified LML's pumps also. Plus 2 on the oil cooler mod, with a gauge in it..

The Wagler stage 1 cams I run have a nice flat torque curve up to about 4200R. So ya gain a few RPM on the top end at least. That data was with 100% over injectors. The oil pump and squirter mods is what I've learned about cooling the pistons in a marine environment, where they are loaded for...

Bare minimum of upgrade parts needed for longevity for a sub 700hp build.

Upgrade the piston oil squirters to LML. As mentioned above, pin the oil pump, and toss a washer under the bypass spring. That's my #1 cooling mod, backed by GM acknowledging the issue and upgrading in the LML's.

    Dimpled Pistons

Way I see it, MythBusters confirmed the golf ball effect conclusively, many moons ago. Ranks up there with busting the myth of better fuel mileage with your tailgate down. Dimpled combustion chambers dates back to my juiced gasser days of the early 90's. First recall seeing pictures of a Hemi...

Longshot question, has anybody weighed an internally balanced LBZ+ crank and a LB7 stock crank? Also do you guys get you cranks re-nitrited? Where?

I'm probably only person known to spin a rod bearing out of one.. So normally they don't need a re-treat. However I spun two rod bearings into vaper, and the company I sent it off to was able to repair it. Just recall them saying they had to re-treat after the weld job.

    Starter problem? Maybe help…

Smack the starter with a hammer while someone else turns the key.. Also check the small purple wire on the stater for power when turning key. If power at at purple wire, it's starter. If not, check relay in fuse box. Since you hear clicking, tells me the relay is good and ECM is telling it to...

2015 LML Delete Tune Problems DSP 5

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Those secondary locks can be tricky, and as you've learned, sometimes are the only thing keeping the pins fully seated. It is possible to reassign input pins within a tune file. I would inquire with the tuner as of why. First guess, is easier than asking someone...

    High calculated fuel rate

I'm going with +/-15 also. Might have once saw a +16, when had a solenoid nut back off on a LLY long ago. I did some reading on the Arduino emulator options last night. After attempting to get it running on a Holley TerminatorX ECM, and then remembering I might have burned a trace on the...

2015 LML Delete Tune Problems DSP 5

No guru with the LML's for certain, but know the fuel temp tables and functions in others years fairly well. Use that for my oil temp sensor mod. Most likely it's because switch wired to wrong pins is killing the regulator circuit. Should be using the same 2 wires the factory sensor used. At...

What is the max reliable overbore on a LMM block without filling the jackets?

Have ran a .040 over at 700hp in high RPM marine build without issues for several year. From what I've learned, would certainly spend $500 for a good used block before attemting to sleeve one if it comes down that choice.

Longshot question, has anybody weighed an internally balanced LBZ+ crank and a LB7 stock crank? Also do you guys get you cranks re-nitrited? Where?

When I saw internally balanced LBZ, was thinking Neutral Balanced Ultra Billets. Those are 83 or 86lbs. Would have to look back at my thread notes to be certain. With the no counterweight FD on front, and a custom monster 85lb flywheel on the back, my total rotating mass is somewhere around...
