Interesting. That must be super frustrating when you get down to paying for the item and find out it's out of stock. Good idea to go junkyarding - I've been looking for a good site for awhile. Thanks Tom.
I checked through the GM upfitter manual (link) but couldn't find a spec on the UBEC (underhood fuse box). However, looking at the left instrument panel junction block on the floor down by the driver's left foot, says the pins are GM p/n 15304711 and the release tool is GM p/n 15315247 but you...
I looked at the pics again, I think you nailed it. I had missed the blue discoloration on the +12v bus bar, plus clear evidence of arcing about half way down, along the edge. Sequence of events: I think resistive terminal N5 ground melted during wiper usage. Then on the last drive (w/o...
Totally agree with this. OP said he didn't use the wipers on the last trip before it started actively burning in the garage so something got physically shorted to ground at that point, possibly due to previous melting / compromised integrity of the fusebox.
So the wiper motor has a 25A fuse on the +12v side so under normal circumstances the pin N5 ground in the UBEC would be rated for at least that much. If there was some kind of direct short in the wiper motor, that 25A fuse should blow before your fuse box melted down, unless N5 was resistive...
Could be a +12v to GND short to cause this kind of meltdown, or a connector terminal getting resistive over time. I took a very close look at your pictures. The 4th one showing the underside of the fusebox clearly shows pin N5 is the culprit since the pin is pretty much vaporized and you can...
I just replaced my driver side door seal, 2003 extended cab. It was a bit of a chore to find the right part number with all the various cab configurations, but I can confirm now after receiving the correct part, the driver's side is GM p/n 15063154. It was a perfect fit, as it should be...
Glad you got it nailed, and thanks for reporting back on what the resolution was. (y)
Thinking back to post #28 where you said one time the problem started right when you latched the hood, and Ron's musings about this being a really good clue. It all makes sense now, how there would be a...
Since the truck was an 03, and the OP stated all the original ECM, TCM, etc modules remained in place as the 02 engine was swapped in, I'm not thinking VATS since that normally only causes trouble (start, then die like James said) when the ECM and BCM aren't properly paired.
OP, please provide...
Holy crap! I'm going to go yank that aftermarket stereo adapter out today. I'll report back in a few weeks when I have enough drive time under it to convince me it's really gone.
Thanks for the help! This has been dogging me for a long time....
Reviving this thread - 3 yrs old but I know rcr1978 is still around :)
I've been fighting similar issues with the CTS2 and my LB7. Just like yours, the DSP5 switching always works fine, but occasionally all the PIDs freeze, except for the two analog EAS probes I'm using with the unit - EGT...
Yes. Intermittent electrical issues are hard to pin down sometimes, and the hood closing would seem to indicate a vibration sensitivity. If you haven't already, start the truck cold, and while it's running good, go around and start wiggling and rapping on each connector between the ECM and...
The scan (log) and the tune should be in separate windows. You should be able to arrange them any way you want like any other applications under Windows, up to the limits of your screen size/resolution of course.
I'm using V8.3.5 and I am able to right click on the table and change the column display units from MPa to PSI. Not sure if v7.5 supports that feature.
Glad it worked out, and thanks again for posting up the resolution, for when someone is searching regarding this problem 5 years from now and this thread pops up. So many come for help, advice is given, and never follow up to help the Duramax enthusiast community.

Something else to check on a P0090, from the .pdf in post #7:
" If the fuse that supplies voltage to terminal C1-76 of the ECM is open, this DTC will set"
