    LLY - Cracked piston

Letters up. Race cast can be installed either side. The difference with the OEM is the pin hole was offset. Not so on the Race case.

    Compression ratio question

IMO there is no reason to go higher than 16.5 on any build. Especially on a Daily Driver. Regardless of year.

    diamond forged .020 pistons

The problem with Forged on the street, IMO, is the blowby. To have enough clearance when you lean on them, you have to accept the looser clearances. Ring wear is another issue, but there are steel land forged available to deal with that. Just know what you are getting into.

    VGT turbo controller for lb7??

It is doable with either a small PLC (Stamp for instance) or a feedback analog circuit. Making it "smart" would require a lot of work, but a simple boost control is rather easy. These are non-ECM stand alone solutions.

    Twins with Twins, Anyone?

To this day, I have a crack in one of my heads in one of the exhaust runners that only shows up in cold, cold winter. I lose between 1-2 quarts. Not a drop in the summer. It only opens up during the warmup-cooldown cycles. 5 years to figure it out and I've been running that engine and heads for...

Piston protrusion How to figure out what HG thickness to run?

I place a vice parallel or other flat piece across the bore and set my dial indicator to zero on top of the piece. Run the piston up and it will push the piece up and indicate on the dial. I also rock the piston and take the highest value for my protrusion.

How's everyone doing with this virus crap?

Statistically, .75% and 1.6% are not that different. On the other hand, 0.02% and even 0.75% is. Point is, it IS more deadly. But we shouldn't be shutting down the country for Pete's sake. Everyone is going to get it eventually. No immunity till you pass through.

How's everyone doing with this virus crap?

    Updated/Current Oval Piston Roll Call!

What Mark said about surface area is true. Depending on CR and a couple other factors, 10%-15% less surface. This makes them run cooler, especially at low load. As far as CR is concerned, You don't get the bump from higher ratios in the Dmax for a number of reasons. The two biggest being heat...
