    Upgrade to electric fan clutch?

So it uses PWM to control the solenoid? I wonder if it would be OK to just be all or nothing, like the hydraulic clutch on the HMMWV

    Upgrade to electric fan clutch?

So I noticed there is an electric fan clutch on the later Dmax engines, the HMMWV I am re-powering has a hydraulic fan clutch and I always liked the idea of controlling the fan using the coolant temp rather than the temp. of the air moving across the clutch, I also love the idea that the fan can...

No intercooler, like I said I am going to take the intercooler/engine intake pipe and stick a filter on it, the pipe is clear, the little woman and I managed to use the lift and an axle stand to get it sitting squarely back on its mounts and it looks SOO much better, the starter was actually...

No oil anywhere in the intake, even pulled the elbow in the valley, will be test running it without the turbo input but with the intercooler discharge pipe with a filter on it, also a filter on the turbo intake, the engine oil level is spot on but the transmission is over full, I suspect drain...

I am after a complete engine, trans, transfer and all the other needed components for a re-power project, I have peeled away enough of the demolished truck that I am about to see if it will run. It would be nice to be able to read the mileage. I assume this has an OBDII port but I cannot find it...

I got to the point that I could install a battery and see if anything had power, the dash seems to be working and as expected I am getting a slew of messages, service 4wd, service tire pressure, reduced engine power, low coolant, hood open (there is no hood) various doors open etc. Are any of...

    ECM replacement

Thanks for the info, there is one more question that I did not see on the site. Assuming my donor has been tuned is it possible he/she has it locked preventing me from tuning the ECM? and if so will I lose a license trying to tune it? Can the lock be overridden or would I simply have to get a...

    ECM replacement

Just curious, is the basic V2 setup able to program DSP5? If so then it is a total wash as far as cost compared to what I have been quoted for stand alone ECM and TCM programming with the DSP5 option.

    ECM replacement

Thanks, the re-power will be in a 1986 vehicle with an emissions exemption, not sure on the law as far as re-power though.

    ECM replacement

I have looked around and it looks like buying the V2 would not be much more than sending off the ECM and TCM for tuning, and then I can tweak it as needed. I am doing a transplant (LMM) and have some questions. 1, With the V2 and its two licenses will I be able to do everything needed as far...

OK so my rolled donor truck was delivered today, a 2008 2500HD. The first thing I noticed is it has a Fleece Cheetah turbo charger, not sure if that is good news or not, definitely not from a little ol lady from Pasadena! it also has an all aluminum after cooler, not sure if that is stock or...

    All wheel drive duramax

The NP218 and the NP242 used in the HMMWV H1 use an open differential, I am in the process of getting started with a Duramax/HMMWV conversion and would be interested if anyone knows how to interface the Allison 1000 to ether of these cases, the HMMWV drive train is considered too week to handle...

    Hello all

Hello from Papalote, TX I am embarking on a HMMWV (Hummer H1) Duramax conversion, I have purchased a 2008 Chevy 3/4 ton rollover for the donor and will no doubt have some questions about the LMM along the way. I have 50 years experience with all things mechanical and believe in component level...
