If your towing a lot, yes a 3/4 or 1 ton is a great idea, a gas motor will just fine. I've pulled with a 96 350 for years now, since 96 and over 200,000 miles with the stock motor still running great to this day. I have scaled it, I was at 18k for trailer weight, and no my trailer axles. I'm at 6200 drive and 14800ish trailer, grossed at 26,000 truck weight is 8k without trailer. I'm going to be adding a bigger fresh water tank and another 4 wheeler which would be putting me at around 28,000 gross or... -

I have a 2008 duramax, 182,000 miles. All stock power with all the EPA stuff still on and working. I have a egt, oil temp gauge and edge insight. My question is does anyone have gauges on a stock truck and what are you seeing for oil and egts?? Mine runs hotter than I would like to see them... -

2008 crew cab long bed 4x4 stock power, only changes are wheels and tires, 265/70r17. Pulling a 25' inclosed at 7-9k oil holds 220-250 depending on speed and wind. Have seen 300* on hills, egts hold 1300-1500 max of 1550, water temp 210-240. I've had water temp hold 220-230 all day at times...- Twan
