    Crank balancer bolt help needed

Got it all done, put together and running. Got the new ARP bolt and washer, which is 27mm. Instructions in the package said torque to 255 ft lbs. Well I torqued her to 74 ft lbs and then gave her another 105 degrees. Put hell on my 1/2 in breaker bar (dont have a 27mm in 3/4 or any adapters)...

"OFFICIAL" What did you do to your D-Max today?

Installed new body mounts on my pickup today. Got the hydraulic ones for the rear and urethane ones for the rest. Most of the old ones came out pretty easy with an impact gun, had to put heat on one of the front ones to get it out. Will have to finish up the water pump before I try them out.

    Crank balancer bolt help needed

So you guys nailed it again! Definitely had that sucker in backwards. Pulled and flipped it and she turns nice and easy now. Will still put the new bolt in when it comes in tomorrow. Feeling glad it was simple, a bit embarrassed that it was that simple, although I'm thinking at least one other...

    Crank balancer bolt help needed

Also, cheater bar is my entire jack handle (3 to 4 foot) on 3/4 breaker bar. Tried 1/2" before but snapped like a dry chicken bone.

    Crank balancer bolt help needed

Thanks for the quick replies! I didn't put anything on the bolt although I should have. It's the original bolt, but just put a new one on order, should be in Friday. I have red and blue loctite. Which do y'all recommend? I'll pull the starter tomorrow and see if I can turn the flexplate, if...

    Crank balancer bolt help needed

In the midst of reinstalling the crank pulley after replacing the water pump and I have a question. Torqued the bolt to 74 ft lbs and then turned the bolt approx 105 degrees. Went to pull out the crank holding tool from the flexplate and she's wedged in there nice and tight. No problem, I'll...

"OFFICIAL" What did you do to your D-Max today?

I have a 2005 GMC Crew Cab Long Bed with Four Wheel Drive. My understanding is that it is only for CCLB trucks with 4 wheel drive. There are some for sale from some vendors, however, I ordered mine from a GM Parts vendor online and it was a bit cheaper. I just used the part numbers I found...

"OFFICIAL" What did you do to your D-Max today?

Just put in a one piece driveshaft in my truck. Cut out the carrier bearing mount and quickly figured out that I wasn't going to pull off the axle yoke with just a breaker bar. Had to use one of those Lyft apps to get to the store and return with a new compressor and impact gun. There was no...

For all you crew long guys...

Had my CCLB since 2005, been all over from upstate NY to LA for many vacations and work. Even had it in Hawaii for a few years and there ain't much room to expand there! Best thing I ever got was the backup camera. Just work with it and knowing where my mirrors are pointing, and taking my...

Questions on suspension upgrades, rims, etc.

Hello all, Got the tax return and am taking the family to Disney World. Anyhow, on the ride down, the steering felt loose, and the suspension probably needs a rebuild. Some components have been replaced already, but super cheap components were used. Anyhow, if any money is left over after...

    Electrical issues

If you got an auto parts store close by, I'd just drive it there. Call and check first, but a lot of them have the ability to check all that and they'll do it for free. I've heard that when the batteries on these trucks go, they get kind of squirrelly. Heck, I'm seeing places that will put the...

"Built not bought" mentality and why it is bad

Kinda messed up to poke at a fella like that. I reckon he's out there creatin interest in our trucks and keepin our hobby alive. Having pride is cool and all, but life has a funny way of fixing you when you get too prideful. Anyhow, I say support the guy who brings anything to our table, even...

Radio stays on after key out and door open

I had this problem on my LLY. I was able to fix it by replacing my ignition switch. I had a few other BCM related issues that went away either by replacing the switch, or by removing my edge evolution CTS2. Not sure how it fixed it, but I didn't have any of these issues until I installed the...

PPE Up-pipe and exhaust manifold install

Did a lot of similar work myself about a month ago. The exhaust manifolds were pretty easy. If you're replacing all the bolts, you'll need a way to remove the studs which can be a challenge. The steering shaft has to come out as well. PPE has a pretty good set of instructions for the exhaust...

First Aid Kit - must have tool

Been working on the truck for a while, and smashed my hand putting in a new intercooler. Didn't like how that felt, so I pulled it out real quick. Caught the back of my hand on a bracket and tore a hole in the hand leather. I could see my tendon through the hole. Anyhow, had a good first aid kit...
