    Lly headgaskets

If this helps. Here's some pics taken as we tore down an lly last week. As stated above it's not hard. Wires kind of lay back in original spots. Lines should be easy.

Finally got my 1st diesel... where do I start?

zakk and chevy1925 said It perfect. quit shopping for injectors and put some damn wrenches on that truck or talk to the dealer. Your worried about injectors but you probably only have a simple return line fitting leaking. Take the anti spin clips off and see if the high pressure lines are...

Finally got my 1st diesel... where do I start?

Brent lds. http://lincolndieselspecialties.com He sales Bosch remans and the cheapest around. Plus great customer service. Also replace or really clean them high pressure lines. Dex lll is the fluid. Run only a red Allison spin on. Theres a magnet on that. Don't throw it away with old filter...

Finally got my 1st diesel... where do I start?

I would still just fill it up to the add mark. Quart or so low. It makes it a lot easier to tell if your making oil and how fast.

Finally got my 1st diesel... where do I start?

Just google "mechanical gauge port lb7" there's a lot of threads on it already. Just put the oil in it and start it. Pressure will be back up until the crankcase fills up again. Theres a lot of good comments on this thread how to check for leaks. You do know you have to prime that filter? If...

    LB7 rattling on decelleration

On the lly we just did with bad injectors sounded like a rod knock when you let off the throttle. Just currious what caused the last ones to go out. Bad fuel or just old age? Was the balance rates good at idle?

    Questions about balance rates

I had a haze at idle balance rates where about the same as yours. Theres no way I would do all that work for one. If you have a bank open do all 4 just me. but you need to figure out the rough idle first. make sure its not the pump or fpr causing the idle issue. Plus when you pull the high...

Finally got my 1st diesel... where do I start?

these are tough motors. I would bet its fine. If it was mine I would get all that crap out of the motor then put some fresh oil and filter back in. fire it up for a few seconds or so to get some good oil on the bearings. Then you need to start searching where the diesel is entering. Only 3...

Finally got my 1st diesel... where do I start?

damn. you must have an injector return line leaking or an injector. Hope your decent with wrenches lol. Brent at lds sales true bocsh reman injectors. Cheap also and good people. Theres a lot of write ups on pulling the valve covers and injectors. That engine can only hold so much fluid before...

    Egr delete is a must

Ok thanks. The main reason I started this thread was because of the egr pipe I pulled off the lly I was working on. I'm still planning on deleting it and thinking of leaving the pcv alone.

    Egr delete is a must

On the lb7s it's a metal line to top engine to bottom in front of engine behind radiator. And I don't see any complaints about freezing on them. Or am I wrong?

Finally got my 1st diesel... where do I start?

Lly 2004.5 they changed design so the injectors are outside the valve covers. Delo oil is a very good oil. And rotella t-6 for synthetic Change the fuel filter asap if you havnt already done. Know matter if they said it was just done. At least drain it from the bottom. There is a drain. See...

Finally got my 1st diesel... where do I start?

Like others had said. Make sure it's not making oil. First thing I would do is change the oil. Takes 2.5 gallons. See what it does. Maybe leave it a quart low. See if your making oil. The lb7 return lines are under the valve covers. Could have diesel mixing with oil. And yes oil pressure will...

    Bad fuel

Took 2 days of cleaning and working our ass off. But she's running again. New injectors and cp3. Running like it should. I'm tired of wrking on diesels lol. Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions. Harbor freight ultrasonic cleaner came in handy. Took 12 cans of brake clean to get all lines...

Got my new ride pulled in just in time. But 03 dmax, 08 stang, and my trusty 2000 blue took a beating. Hailed for at least 10-15 minutes hard
