    If the driver of the vehicle is ignoring the after treatments request to regen , or if it keeps getting shut off before it can successfully complete the regen , then it gets to the point where the system will put its self into limp mode and you will no longer be able to do it with a button...

    You should be getting fuel coming out while you pump with filter off you lost your prime , yea a lift pump would def help in this situation , more than likely your filter head is sucking air , on big rigs I've been known to pressurize the fuel tank with shop air to push the fuel back upstream...

    When I change my fuel filter I screw it on DRy give it like five pumps until it starts getting hard and crank it up, but I don't just let it idle I give it a little gas in case it wants to stall but then it's good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
