There's multiple threads on what oil everyone runs. Just keep the oil changed, regardless of brand, and new filters on it and it should be fine.
Personally I don't like Rotella 15W-40 because I saw a drop in oil psi over John Deere +50 15W-40.

Since it was asked... I run Schaeffer's oil in mine, ACDelco PF2232 filter.

5w-40 t6 rotella
Mobile one filter, in my lbz

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Most everyone I know that runs Cummins and Powerstroke all say to just use t6 Rotella, but I never got an answer from anybody on if they run it in the Dmax.

As soon I bring it home tomorrow evening, probably this saturday I'm going to go ahead and do an oil change and change the fuel filter.

By the way, y'all please bare with me on any stupid questions I may ask on here. I'm all new to this diesel game. I'm used to getting 5qts of Valvoline from walmart, dumping in it, and throwing on the $5 AC Delco filter... Diesel game is completely new to me, so please bare with me!

I'll post pics of her as soon as I can.

Thanks folks!

Well, say goodbye to low-cost oil changes and fuel filter changes. :hehe: Its always a shock to those new to the game.

Ive used 15w40 rotella and acdelco pf2232 for years. Never an issue.

Oh I know that part very well! Lol.

Just wondering on certain things! These trucks hold 15qts of oil right? I looked it up and I saw a few said 12 and some 15..

10qt.

If you don't live in a hot climate and don't tow a lot, I wouldn't waste the money on T6 Rotella.

Haha! Well T6 is what I need then cause I live in Southeast Texas about 20 miles from the coast, and the truck will be towing.

She's in the driveway.. I'll post pics tomorrow, cause it's dark right now and I couldn't really snap any. Absolutely love this truck...

About the oil deal, I guess I read the wrong thing, because I could have sworn that I saw 12qts and another said 15qts..? Good to know it's 10! I'm changing the oil/fuel filter this weekend and would hate to dump 15qts in her.. Lol.

So just to be clear, I plan to get 2.5 gallons of Rotella T.. would it be better to run the t6 synthetic or just t4?? 178k miles. Plan to get Wix oil filter too...

I know I'm probably overthinking this too much, just don't want to dump the wrong shit in her!

I used to run Dino rotella. Now I run t6. Not a huge price difference and mines higher mileage so I just went with the best cause why not.

I saw your post on the hull truth. You're right you're over thinking the oil ha. If it makes you feel better run the T6.

Yep, I know I am.. My whole thing is, I'm used to just getting some 5w 30 (didn't matter what brand) and dumping it in the ole 5.3.. I don't know why, but with this truck I'm having a real OCD issue with the oil.. lol, made mind though.. Just gonna run 15 w40 t4.

I appreciate the help, and I'll get pics posted tomorrow!!!!

Buying a scan tool and keeping an eye on balance rates, a lift pump, and keeping up with regular maintenance is the best thing you can do.

Cummins 5.9 / 6.7 run 12qts, most Powerstroke engines are 15qt (I think).

I've ran Delo, Delvac, Rotella (reg and t6), Lucas Magnum and Valvoline Blue in my truck over the years. Never noticed a difference in oil pressure (unless I had oil stabilizer in it), fuel mileage, or with noise, never burnt oil with any of them. Only thing that changes is your bank account and the smell out the blowby tube.

I mostly ran Premium Blue before as I was getting it for free, but if I buy it, Delvac it is. If the Valvoline goes on sale I still buy it, I've seen first hand what that oil will live through so I trust it completely.
