I have a custom s400 off my 12v that I am thinking about putting on my duramax an was woundering if I would still be able to tow with out high EGTs with a good tow tune

here are the specs

5" inlet
4.25" v-band comp outlet
2.5"/63.5mm inducer
3.6"/91.5 exducer
I think its 83.5mm inducer on the turbine
T-4 .90 a/r

it will work, it'll spool nice with the .90 housing but i run the 1.00 housing on mine (not sure what the higher rpm difference would be) and my boost doesnt drop off till around 4200 rpms

Sweet, will I still be able to tow, casue I use my duramax to pull my 12v around in the summer to all the sled pulls, when my trailer is loaded it probably weighs around 12k

also should I keep the 90AR on there for towing or should I put my 1.00 AR on?

Ok so now this might be a dumb question but would you rather have that s400 or would you rather have twins

Technically what you have is a S464.

Twins can spool quick and have a nice top end. A single can spool quick or have a nice top end, or anywhere in between.

That charger would be great for DD and street driving. For more performance I would go bigger on the compressor and you would still be able to tow fine. I tow another Duramax behind my truck with a 5.5" inlet race cover on a 75mm compressor, with an 83mm turbine in a 1.0 housing. I also played with a .9 housing for a while and that is what was on it for the numbers in my sig. Have also towed with an S472 with a 1.1 AR turbine housing with no problems.

How much bigger would you go on the compressor side? Also I have a s480 do you thinik I should put that on there or is that to big for DD an towing? an have a custom s477 with a 100mm turbine but the compressor is shaved to fit in a 2.6 class,

you looking to get rid of the custom 2.6 turbo too? was it also built by Gillette?

in addition:
i think the 480 is too big for a stock motor dmax, slow spooling, and pretty unusable.
i like the S64X i run (464) but you can go to a 66 or 68 compressor wheel with that same turbine side if i'm not mistaken.
