Will ATI Super Damper make for smoother idle?

So if you were to just slap an ATI on, how do you know how to "time" it for just like a stock motor? Their website also states that they can make for a smoother engine because of the fact they become an integral part of the crank once pressed on, rather than being a somewhat loose fitting damper like the stock style, which makes sense.
The hub is keyed so you can't mess that up. There is a small dot on the hub and balancer that shows the offset bolt hole. Just line them dots up and put bolts in.
That's how you balance solid stuff is drill hole and add mallory if needed, or leave the hole hollow. But something that self balances centrifugally I don't think you can adjust it.

Yeah, I was just saying that they are filled with silicone fluid, but I don't know it is all the way down in the center. The empire kit drills a circle, half of which ends up in the balancer center, half in your crank shaft. Then the "pin" slides in to fill that circle, parallel inside the crankshaft (like a key), instead of our current pin design that sticks up perpendicular.
I personally don't know that they are that bad, I just don't like the idea that they retain the slip fit perpendicular key design.
With our crank pin kit you must use an ATI or Stock. As far as vibration or harmonics the crank pin will not help with that. In most occasions when we have customers stating of small idle vibration is early signs of a pin failure for both performance upgraded applications or stock work trucks.
The crank pin kit is easily installed with basic tools on a average install time of two hours worth of work. (takes more time getting to the front hub then actually drill and install)

So basically, that loose fitting stock damper can move around a tiny bit, even without shearing the pin entirely and will start to create vibrations. Mine actually bent the pin, but did not shear it. I just got a new pin and a used balancer with no damage to the keyway. It seems that an ATI would help with a smoother idle, because the stock is a looser fit and doesn't become one with the crank.
Instead of making a new thread I thought I'd just bump this one...

My GM reman didn't come with a balancer....
So it would almost seem implied then that ALL LBZ balancers are the same? And if that's so, and ATI made a damper "for" the specific engine designations, shouldn't you be able to just bolt one up?
Or did they just screw up and forget to put the balancer on there before they sent me the engine?
But I can't imagine GM balances EVERY duramax engine, so I would think that they just use a default weight based off of a mean average weight of the rotating assembly...
Want are your thoughts?

You can use a Super Damper on a stock motor. My brother has one on his bone stock LB7 after it sheared the pin and spun the stock balancer.
GM uses a generic balancer for all the motors. The crank itself is balanced (kind of), so you can swap a different balancer on without issue.
IIRC the LB7 and LLY use one balancer, and the LBZ+ use another. So you can swap things around as long as you stay in those ranges.
And for what it is worth, my brother's truck idles much smoother with the ATI damper than it did with the stock one.

01-05 are the same an 06-10 are the same. Not sure about LMLs.
yes GM used the same balancer. been doing it for years. We had tons of old small blocks from the 60-70s and they are had the same balancer on them.

you have to have it honed for the crank? could you explain that, ive never heard of this so now im intrigued.
