Mitch, We've been lookin at buyin a small farm and building a shop. I really haven't been involved in the prices but It is water (basically free) so either way I'm sure you will get your money back really quick

Well, the Ratcave is almost 100%. I took a quick video just now, but it's too big to post. I guess I should have taken pictures.
By cramming everything from the old McRat Racing building into it, it's pretty disorganized.
Only the upstairs is A/C'd but it's well insulated, doesn't get very hot or cold, we only see 30-110°F temp ranges here.
It has two bays, an RV bay that is 14 x 40 x 19 tall, and a car bay that is 30' x 30' x 10'. It has a toilet, sink, and on-demand hot water. The upstairs is 14' x 30' x 8' and is both a workshop and a home theater.
There are NO Christmas decorations, lawnmowers, yard tools, kids bicycles, antiques, seldom used kitchen appliances, etc, in it. If it doesn't burn fossil fuels it doesn't belong in there.

but lawnmowers burn fossil fuels well the good ones lol
concrete price will be the same, a seperate company will lay the radiant heat. as for cost i dont know,.
Over time it takes less energy to heat it.
But make sure you plan everything out first like where car lifts will go and such, if you dont then you may ne in for trouble because once that tubes in the floor your done drilling holes in it.
Your not kidding. The finished product framed and roofed to lock-up is going to be about $40 000 CDN.
The floor was a 1/3 of that cost!!

18'X20' attached garage, a 20' truck and two quads made this head gasket job on my room mates LLY last weekend a bit tight. Gotter done though. Took a couple pictures showing how tight it was when we had to close the garage door and grab a couple hours sleep.

Probably around 28 deep x 30 wide. Would have liked to go bigger, but there's limited space. Not sure on doors or ceiling height yet, would like 9' doors and 15' ceilings. But my Dmax will fit so that's what matters to me.

I work for a naturl gas company,Customer service field.I go on gas leaks,change meters,turn ons turn offs.I started fliping cars on the side mostly GMs started in the front 3 car with a floor jack a motor hoist and jackstands,bought a tow dolly and started chasing down 4 to 500 dollar cars with straight bodys that needed motors or transmissions and went to work.Paid for most all my garage and tools the lift.I couldnt do alot of floor work anymore,back is bad.The lift is more afordable then you might think but watch the price of steel and fuel i had got a price on the lift and saved and a year later when fuel was 5 a gallon and steel was high they wanted 2375 for the lift and 450 to deliver to so i needed more money.A little later i flipped a couple more cars and went to buy and this time the lift was 1875 and it was 245 to deliever becasue fuel and steel was low so know when to strike on the lift for the 1875 that lift was been priceless and ive had a CClb dually on it no problem.I need to update because these videos are old and now i have a sand blaster,parts washer,2000lbs trans jack and more.The set up and the planning is everything before you start once you have a good plan then act on it if you think as you go and start blind there will be a ton of things you will wish you did and it may be to late.
Currently, the only thing I'd like to do to my "shop" is install an overhead door in the front instead of using the one on the side. While good for the lawn tractor, it is very difficult to get a truck in the way its set up.

I built a 36x54 pole barn with 16' walls 3 years ago. Radiant floor heat, a bathroom, and 10,000 LB lift get the job done. Wasn't cheap to build, but it was worth it for sure. I would like to get a few machines like a mill, lathe, and cnc plasma table.
No shop for me, definitely on my want list though along with a thousand other expensive things. For now, I keep the garage organized enough to fit the duramax in it if I need to work on something. I just wired in a 220 outlet the other day to run my new 30 amp electric heater up in the left corner. Its not much but with the tools available and a compressor I can get alot done, If I end up staying here another year I will insulate and wall mount an a/c as well.

You guys have some pretty nice garages/shops to work in. Every time I move my work area gets smaller, haha
My Dad's shop is 42' x 72' with one 10' x 10' door and one 16' x 20' (if I remember right). Built it out of a building we tore down for a new shop out at the farm years ago.
When I moved to Illinois my garage was roughly 24' x 30'.
The place I rented in KC had a 18' x 24' garage, small but I made it work.
Now all I have is the back yard :roflmao:. One of these days I would like to have a shop again.
No matter where I move I always find a way to do what I really enjoy, working/building things; thats what matters.
