There is something very sad about this thread. All you guys going back to stock, or close to it.

Sure as sh**, hotrodding diesels is not for the faint of heart.

Or the thin of pocketbook :)

Amen to that.

I agree with you guys ^^ I really enjoy this hobby from the competing to turning the wrenches to simply just reading the forums and learning.. But as much as I enjoy it, its reckless spending that has no end in site. IMO if you can afford to spend 20k a year (Atleast) to competivetly compete/play then awesome for you :thumb: "Can I afford it NOW"?? YES!, but can I afford to continue to do that year after year and not be disgusted with myself for the money & time I invested into a hobby?? I'm really not sure  I Guess with a second kid on the way my priorities are changing a bit but its not from a lack of interest/passion for the hobby but more so the timing at this point in my life. On a postive note!! some one will make out like a bandit if I do decide to sell my Junk :D

I love hotrodding diesels. I've meet some of the best people and had a lot of fun. Like you I have one kid and the wife is back in school. This hobby is way out of my budget at the current time. When I was single and had money to burn it was great!

i think i figured out what im going to do. i think im going to find me a cover and im going to park the pos for a while. ive got a mower that im selling and could put a new turbo back on it but im so burnt out on the whole thing i dont think im even going to do that. i went riding street bikes today with some of my friends and it was a blast. i think im going to buy another street bike, ride it for the summer, and then maybe after summer ill have some kind of desire to start messing with it again. i know if i take the motor out ill be pissed i did, so i think the best thing i can do is just push it to the side for a while and worry about it later.

I hear what you guys are saying. I was all gung ho to get twins then I saw James blew his motor with twins. I decided it wasn't for me not so much the money. I just use my truck everyday and want it be reliable. So I have decided do get a BD Supermax, Yeah it is weak sauce in this day and age but it will help lower egt's smoke output and hopefully increase fuel mileage.

I have thought about getting a new daily driver but honestly, I don't like anything else. I love this truck

Not a bad idea at all. I am curious as to where you got the turbo from used, if you dont mind me asking.

Mmm I get like 16 total avg with my bd could be tuning I can't seem to get decent MPG with my 45% overs? I have played with bout everything it'll get 18-20 somedaus on the freeway but around town blows ass it's around 12-14 tops. As for egts on a boosted launch it still pegs my 1600 degree Pyro but towing or rolling into the throttle they'll slow down around 1200-1400 degrees

I always thought it would be cool to see a Duramax in a old Pontiac or something. I would love to see a Dmax in a 65-67 GTO, but thats just me. Do something a little different than a S10, Camaro, or Chevelle. Change it up

I get 16 now I was in between 18-19 with the 4094. I have no plans to get larger injectors. I just want to be able to mostly clean up the smoke without a sacrifice in spool. The 4094 was a big let down in the egt department as well they were actually higher than the IHI. I have driven trucks with the HTT and they are 100% better than the 4094. The BD is a little smaller but I am getting it for a good price.

I wonder why are you guys getting such low fuel mileage with the BD and the S364? I am running the HTT S366 and can get 20-21 on road trips and average 16-17 around town. When towing a trailer the worst I have seen was 13-14.

Not to take away from Josh's post....I definitly wouldn't sell the truck. I think what you are planning to do by parking it and seeing how the summer goes is the best bet. Whatever you decide to do, good luck with your decision.
