ill add my two cents... i spent from 2007 to august 2010 building a 2004.5 dodge cummins, when i first bought it lifted on 37s the plan was to get a 4x4 that i could take moto-x racing that wouldnt totaly kill me on fuel. well that evolved into a 10 second(on 33 in terra grapplers with 20s)950 rear wheel horsepower caged race truck, i spent soo much time and money, doing all the labor/install work on my own, that truck was a piece of me that i created... out of frustration at the time, i made a hasty decision and sold it! Id always dreamed of being invited to the diesel power challenge, well guess what, low and behold this april Diesel Power Magazine called me to invite me to the 2011 DPC! YUP I F**CKED UP! so i dont know if this helps, but i would take a step back and really think about it for a month a two, dont touch it or look it at... u may change ur mind , u may not, but at least there is less chance for regrets...wish i wouldve!
if u wanna check my dodge out go to you tube and type in thacker99, or RyanThacker 950... im not B.S.'n my truck was nice, that was 950 hp with a single turbo(66/80) from I.I. ..

As much as I miss my built motor/twins,, It is nice having a reliable truck again;) My built motor should be done any day now and I am seriously considering just saying screw it and selling my motor, turbo's, fuelers, etc,,etc,, And just being content with a 500 H.P. DD/work truck  :)

Reading stuff like this makes me think about not wanting to even go beyond what the stock tranny will hold. I have been thinking about getting it built but am not sure it is worth the money for just "fun"! Also afraid to turn it up around 500hp to much and have a piston crack, can't afford that.

I hate my truck today. If we could have a truck BBQ I'd be the first MFer there with the main course! I've put 1500 mi on it since replacing the cracked bellhousing & cracked rear engine cover & replaced the tq conv. It was fine a wk ago. Yesterday, an ear is broken off bottom of bellhousing AGAIN!

I'm beside myself on WTF is causing mine to suck at life but it is shittay for sure!

I am by no means an authority on diesels. Blackie was the first one I had ever messed with. Yes he has the cash to spend we all wish we had but aside from that this is what I believe. The stroker kit from socal is top notch. The issues we have had came from everyday things that can happen. The oil cooler went out, him having to drive it across the state of Texas to get home blew a head gasket and in turn cracked a head which I missed on the reassemble with the twins. By far it has been his daily driver for 40,000+ miles with this being the only hiccup. The rest of the stuff just came from normal part failure which can happen gas or diesel. I have learned that it is damn expensive to build a dependable dmax but once you do it is well worth it. The GT42mag was great, little lag from a dead stop but Pat sent me a tune to start and Larry Jewell helped me tweak it to get less lag. The twins have yet to really show up because of the cracked head but Trent did the tunes and it performed very well for being a 7.1L firehose. It can shoot water a good 20ft from the 5" exhaust:roflmao: As soon as I get the new heads back from socal and installed, the trans from Mike L installed I will let you know how it does. I have learned alot over the past 3 years from you guys and this site but I still don't believe you can't have the 1000-1200hp daily driver without problems. I have no idea how much Blackie makes and really don't care because its really just numbers unless your in a competition. Larry Jewell's truck with twins is still his daily driver and now the family out of town vehicle also and it is performing great as well. I believe you need to consider the parts you use and choose wisely, chech everything 3 times then one more for good measure:thumb: Change the oil, use quality fuel filters and drive it like you stole it. Its not cheap but there is no other feeling like the g force of that much torque pinning you ass to the seat to run to wal-mart:D sorry so long just finally had time to talk so I did it all here:hug: Build it mean, build it fast and enjoy it!!!!
