What does it cost to build a World Record Breaker Motor?

A couple of the pullers were probably the first to go over 1000 hp but those guys keep everything very close to the vest. Orange Crush was the first dmax powered truck to break into the 9's with an Allison tranny, doubt it was anywhere close to 1000 hp unless he sprayed the bejesus out of it. Buck was the second but used a Duraflite.
orange crush did run a lone 9 second pass first, we were the first to run back to back 9s.

Don't forget the sheep! :)

How could I :roflmao:
I remember talking with Mike L. while checking out Ben's tap shifter (and the dash being half torn apart).

Todd, yes it was a great time for me too.
Rick I don't know if you remember me, but I helped with the hitch on Landon's pull truck. We modified the hitch (I think it was the night before the pull), and I said we should weld it to the crossmember in the rear (to act as drawbar) and you welded it in (I have ZERO welding skills). I watched you machine a few parts too and was quite impressed (my father was a machinist), but I doubt you even knew who I was LOL.

I met a bunch of great people that trip, some I didn't even know (that they were board members) until I got home and read the tales and put 2 + 2 together (Todd and TrailerProPop were two of them). We went out to dinner after TrailerProPop won his class and I did not realize it was him until he wrote something about the dinner a few days later.

Ended up going to lunch with TheBac, BudTX, and Merchant's crew the day my tranny was being done.

Funny thing was Ben and Tony don't live that far from me (considering the distance to Merchant's), but that was the first time I met them. The only local "high profile" board member I have yet to meet is MACKIN.

Mack is this skinny looking redneck that lives in the hills with his dog. I don't know what he does to his dog but she sure is happy humping his leg. Did I mention hes a mean ol some bitch. Tony is a fat mexican that can't tune a Radio flyer and Ben he's just a mess he reminds me of that squrral on ice age chasing a nut.

How about wrecking the golf cart into the parts washer or Ben's picnic table? :woott: :roflmao:

So that was Ben's table? I forget, though....was that thing motorized or not? If not, a little Briggs wouldve been hilarious.

I know nothing about anyone wrecking a golf cart....nothing at all.

Hey Todd, I really think we all got along a lot better back then. For me, the highpoint was Merchant's 07 GTG, when Mike and Guy came out. After that things between all of the guys seemed to change for the worse.

BTW, my apologies about Zeedyke. I completely forgot about him. Another really nice guy who had huge problems with parts and labor and finally gave up. I hope he's doing ok.

How about NLDP...those guys were crazy sobs back in 04-05. Ryan Uptegraft was trying new things back then, too. How about that crank-it-up guy...Kyle? IIRC, werent all those guys working out of their garages back then?

Who was it from Canada who blew an engine? HeartbeatCanada? Wasnt he one of the first to try to go big?

Lots of stories to tell....good times, good people.

not to step on any toes but this type of machine work is around for lots less than big name shops.

x2!
There are a few really good shops that fly under the radar out there.

Definetly alot of good times had and alot of remarkable things done considering the technology, R&D that had been done at the time, and the cost and availability of parts needed to do the job!
Either way to build an engine to hold 1000hp still ain't cheap, still isn't guaranteed to last, and still is alot of fun once you get it running!! Can't wait to finally get my truck back on the road-driving the 7.3 is getting old!!

Roger Ziedek ( Farm Boys Toy ) was right there with Keith at 1,000 hp. We did some off the wall things with both their Alli's and got them to work.
I remember talking to Joe Webb ( Suncoast ) about what to do and he told me " You can't do that shit " I said " If you don't have a better idea, then STFU " :roflmao: Joe was my buddy. Damn I miss him.

You were a great help playing with those trucks, I miss the good Ol days too:(

Joe Webb was one of the finest guys I've had the honor to know, I still remember Mike L calling me and giving me the news....

I think it was the Suncoast dyno day shortly after that we all posed in front of the Ram2000 that Garmon built for Joe for a picture. Anybody have that pic?
