A couple things.

Anyone heard from Keith, and how he's doing? He was very down to earth. Didn't know me at all, but treated me well.

I had a drink (OK it was way more than I should have) with him and his significant other (I feel bad I can't remember her name) out at Merchant's. I stayed a few days later to get my trans built for the first time and he invited all of us out for drinks (paid the tab too).

Also, is it the VIN that gets black listed?
Once it's black listed, is it forever?
A "cough" "cough" VIN swap could be done with a wreck/salvage truck if so.
Ship the truck, then ship the motor, buy a VIN from a wreck and be done. It happens here more than most would believe. There's guys that just buy collisions for the VINs. Years ago (80's), paperwork for a "salvage" was sent across the border, "cleaned", and then returned. The VIN was no longer considered a "salvage". I think that has since stopped. Guys made a ton of money, buying and fixing trucks, then selling them as used (instead of salvaged).

IIRC, Keith was the first documented Dmax over 1000.

Buck and Jess probably were, but never told anyone. Not their style to. Those two certainly blazed the trail for everyone, didnt they? :thumb:

1) Vin yes
2) Forever probably not but it would have to probably go through extensive expensive inspections so it probably is best sold as parts.
3) Might be easier to swap out a vin here in the USA then try and do it from a vehicle purchased out of this country depending on how intensive the inspection is. As you know the vin plate in the dash isn't the only location of identification. I wouldn't risk it myself.It's a lot different today then way back then.

The USA must be a lot harder to import vehicles then Canada as I've brought quite a few in and they never once looked at the vin number when entering. All the inspections were done at the one of many local inspection stations that you need to get done to get your tags. I've also brought my truck on a trailer numerous times into the Us and only once have I even been asked for an ownership.

Roger Ziedek ( Farm Boys Toy ) was right there with Keith at 1,000 hp. We did some off the wall things with both their Alli's and got them to work.
I remember talking to Joe Webb ( Suncoast ) about what to do and he told me " You can't do that shit " I said " If you don't have a better idea, then STFU " :roflmao: Joe was my buddy. Damn I miss him.:hug:

Wasn't Orange Crush also a very early truck to get into that power range ? I know not much was said about him as he was a re-plant in a early model truck 1970 ish if I recall.


EDIT: Now that I think about it maybe he isn't making that kind of HP seeing how it's probably a light truck by some of the looking I just did. Anyway he was a early pioneer nonetheless.

I highly doubt that truck was anywhere near 1000hp but it was definitely one of the first duramax's in the 9's

A couple of the pullers were probably the first to go over 1000 hp but those guys keep everything very close to the vest. Orange Crush was the first dmax powered truck to break into the 9's with an Allison tranny, doubt it was anywhere close to 1000 hp unless he sprayed the bejesus out of it. Buck was the second but used a Duraflite.

Ya thats probably where I was going or thinking when Orange Crush popped up in my head that he was more of a quickest quarter mile time then HP first of.

I remember hearing about Nasty Girl & when we got there it was on the hoist being worked. I was just admiring but staying out of the way when Keith said "if you have time to gawk, you can work" Keith was cool. I spent the whole week before that event up there. Spent the week working on Nasty Girl, Blue, our truck & Landons pull truck.
RDL, Tony M, Keith, Ben T, Landon were there. Mike & Guy flew in.
