Door looks good what did you make it out of? I need to do something for our back door since the kiddos don’t know how to close the door. The problem with wood here on the Gulf coast is it rots to fast due to the damp weather.

Its just your regular pine 2x3s

If you have problems with rot, get yourself a can of copper naphthenate (or that copper-green found at most hardware stores) and coat all of it before painting

You ever paint over copper green with a light color? How bad does it bleed? All my trim is almond colored(off white).

Forgot to put this up!
Got it done. It’s slowly packing down. The main strip to my shop is pretty solid but the loop hasn’t quite locked chips together yet.

Depending on how tight that turn is it might not ever pack down. You can rent a plate compactor pretty cheap and it'll pack everything down nice and smooth

It’s is and isn’t. The main body of it is packing down nicely after the sprinklers have wetted it down and such but the edges near the ditch are the issue. Not a big deal though for that area because it will get light poles and some small shrubs (I call em spider breeding trees)

Pruned a tree for my flag pole! Used the ole LUV to keep tension on the branch trunk so if it gave way it would be in a fairly predictable direction.

Got my concrete and stuff ready for the morning so I can get to digging my base and set my pole collar about 3’ down

The kids and I rode over to the farm yesterday to take the ground blind up so the hurricane doesn’t blow it away, I carried the chainsaw with me because I knew there was one tree already down. We got over and there were two. I trimmed the one at the pipe and went to the other one. The limbs were above my head and when the limb fell it kicked the saw back and cut my pants. Not a scratch on my leg. God was looking over me, this could have been bad and me with both our kids, a 6 year old and 2 year old, what would they have done? Thank God it wasn’t my leg.

Went over to put the blind back up today at the farm since hurricane Florence has passed. We got lucky and only got about 8” of rain from Friday night through today. The pipe going to the field we hunt didn’t fare so well. It’s a 48” pipe and had 2 dump truck loads of concrete chunks around it. The beans and turnips are a tad wet as well.

Yes sir Tom, I have a couple people lined up to look at it with a trackhoe. I can't do it with my tractor and loader. It was fixed a couple years ago with 2 dump truck loads of busted up concrete and it washed most of it downstream. Some of it is reachable with a hoe. There's a pretty good hill going down to this pipe and it needs fixing as well.

Florence was an angry bitch! I'm still on generator power with trees everywhere...

The price we pay to live at the coast is high...

If you want it to last. Get them to send you some bigger chunks 18” square and bigger. Also need Some geotextile fabric under the concrete as well. The concrete just can’t be around the pipe. It needs to be in the bottom of the creek out about 10’ out from the pipe. The top of the concrete in the creek bed should be flush with the bottom of the creek. So the creek needs to be dug out some. Cover the concrete with good dirt just to cover it up and plant some grass on it.

It will last a lot longer this way.
