Whew. Roni and I had this week off, so we're trying to make headway on our bedroom remodel. I know....some vacation....but my wife and I are together.

The electrical is almost done, just have the closet light circuit to run. NBD. Ran into one huge (by my standards) circuit problem trying to figure out a 4way circuit with power coming in the middle, not at the ends. Ugh. Took me three days of thinking to come up with it. Got both bedrooms "separated" on their own circuits and ran new lighting.

Most of the drywall is up, too. Once Id finish electrical in a wall, up went the drywall or patches so Roni could start mudding. She's an absolute ace with a drywall trowel. Who knew?!?

Got the entertainment stand built. Will drywall the base when everything else is done. Roni wants to finish that last.

Door still needs to be rehung, but thats just one of those things. Next job for me is to lay subfloor and start building the closet. One job after another.....

Tom anytime you need some electrical advice or need to figure out how to wire something hit me up. Used to spend hours on each house figuring out how I could do things differently and make it all work. And it always did :thumb:

Thanks Zack. :) I got this one covered. My son will be getting his degree in EE in Dec, so he ended up helping me out with it. He tried for a couple days to verbally explain it to me, but that didnt work and I just got frustrated. In the end he drew it up, then I just had a lot of trouble "seeing" his solution without using colors for the wires. :rofl:Had to run two 14/3 wires to the 4way to get it to work with the existing 3 way switches, then figure out which wires went where. Gosh, it sucks getting old.

The room is starting to look good. As I said, Roni is a hell of a drywall/plaster finisher. Amazing how she's blending panels and patches....plus I get a nice view of her butt when she's up on the ladder. :hehe:

Haha Tom believe me you never quite master figuring out 4 ways and 3 ways. There’s about a million different ways to make them happen. Congrats to your son

Bathroom is coming together. New shower valve soldier in and all new faucets/shower heads bought, everything boarded up, initial coats of mud on and thin set on the concrete board for joints/screw holes, new drain installed and poured new floor and curbing in place. Today we got the hydro guard laid down with a few layers of fiberglass too. Hydro guard will go up the walls tomorrow. Then it’s on to tile work.

Cabinets are in, but the few guys I've called about building me a custom Butchblock counter top are being flakes. I guess that's one more thing I'll do myself. I'm going to have to simplify it some since I don't have the equipment to do it the right way. Counter top, little more tile, trim, and this room is done. It going to have to wait though I'm need to jump back on tiling the rest of the house.

Pulled all my wallpaper and did oil base, texture and painted a darker grey with some white trim and accents here and there!

Did custom cabinet work while in school. There are a lot of options out there. I like the spekva end grain butcher blocks. they are not just plain square blocks, but have a shaped glue edge like the illustration.

There are other options as well. its not hard to make one if you so choose. Lots of glue, a bunch of clamps, and a real good sander or planer. Start gluing the strips together and nail them to hold while getting it assembled, then clamp the last one instead of nailing it so there are no holes. Tighten the clamps until you think they are going to break, then add 1/4 turn. Just keep working the clamps from end to end. When its all done, scrape as much glue off as possible and start sanding. After sanding seal with your preferred oil and enjoy. I used heated peanut oil on a cutting board years ago and was actually surprised at how well it held up.

Had the city and county come through and mark up the gas lines and water lines etc. My home was county 4 months before I bought it but there was contamination in the wells and the community started to complain so the city annexed the neighborhood via community vote. Which means I am “City” but I am also within the “County” impact zone....sometimes I feel like there are too many Chiefs and not enough Indians.
Anyhow I had to do all of this because I’m gonna do some landscaping and find a 30’ drill string joint and cement it into my driveway loop for flags and widen my driveway!

I’ve been house shopping lately to get out of this horrible apartment crap. Such a sellers market. Nothing around here is even remotely a good deal. Think I’m gonna but a piece of land either behind or beside my parents and park me a single wide on it. Cheap. Economical. I don’t need much. More money for the trucks.

Moved a bunch of stone and called a reputable digger for my driveway. I have all my lines marked out but I work on the guys stuff all the time so I’m sure I’ll get a descent price. Just seems like digging over NAT Gas line and my well should be left to an INSURED pro

To go:
Bedroom subfloor - waiting for Roni's ok to start. Same for door casings.

Then its on to paint, laminate flooring and trim install.

We're getting there....

Time to widen my driveway out! Had someone come through and dig up the sod and haul it off, took two or three dump beds worth but its done.

Pretty excited, as you can see my trailer is leaning into the spot that is gonna be leveled out. Im getting some flags and some poles so i dont get carried away. First this and then the next step is guard wrap and the foundation stone.

Common sense tells me to get some poles and mark my 6” depth that I need. That way I can ensure i have a level surface. Im gonna line the ditch side of the level spot with 8’x12’ boards and stack my landscape rocks on the outter edge of those boards.
