Even still, as has been discovered throughout all of our Duramax Hotrodding, you can spend $45k on a motor and still break a crank in a few passes. It Happens. You can spend $5k on heads and still have them crack...it happens. There's no insurance with this "sport"...only poor poeple and poorer people...

The fact that cranks break is no excuse just to throw in a questionable one!!! Is it not the course of best practice to put a crank in with no visible or known problems in a high dollar high performance build? Josh was spot on. And after all this... The OP STILL HASN'T GOTTEN HIS CRANK BACK! Nor has he been reimbursed the shipping costs "for inspection". Why instruct him to spend his money shipping the crank when the shop has no intention of working through and compromising? Wasn't that in itself him getting the run around???

i don't think i would put a crank with a blemish that cuts your nail in anything.....
.....documentation on written receipts is always the best.....

Had the op saw

" crank journel scored customer declined replacement, no warranty on crank life"
written on the original receipt then this thread does not happen.

So when the guy buying it from your original customer called you(prior to purchase and several times), you wouldn't tell them corners were cut because it was a budget build? Would you just leave that part out? Afterall, that would be some pretty important information to have...right?

Based off the OP and DTS, they talked several times before and after business hours yet the crank issue and waterpump gear were never brought up. This is not being disputed other than DTS saying "well, thats the way the original owner wanted it". If that is the case, why didn't they tell him BEFORE he bought it?
Thank you ! That's exactly the point, these forums mean nothing. Other than people with nothing better to do except get on and run there mouth about something they read on the internet

The plus side to a forum is I learned that if I wanted a motor built with a cracked piston then you would do it for me if I'm on a budget. :thumb:

If these forums mean nothing to you then take your ass somewhere else. you wont be missed. The benefits of this forum and other far outweigh the drawbacks. if you feel "these forums mean nothing. Other than people with nothing better to do except get on and run there mouth about something they read on the internet" then we have nothing to offer and you can take your a** to one that better suits your liking and "skill" set. :gtfo:

And then other times "these" places are just a place for a hack to come in and defend being a hack and talk trash on everyone else....

Wow, I don't know about "these forums" but this one means something to most here, kind of a big diesel family. I you want to piss off a bunch of guys on a forum, that's a perfect way to do it.

Now it means nothing...:hmm::doh::thinking2:Funny, it means/meant something when you're trying to push a product though...

:mommy:

Shhh, shhh, don't cry, we won't hold you responsible for poor craftsmanship sweetie, now will we....there all better

Just make it right. You guys brag about how good you are, and easy all this is... Since y'all are so seemingly talented, placing a fresh crank in the block shouldn't have been a big deal....a shop such as yours, why I'd imagine a suitable replacement crank is on hand lyin around somewhere, and could be easily absorbed as a tax write off...

I bet if you were as reputable as you thought you were, the block would've been sent to be inspected and rebuilt by you in the beginning, and if you were as willing to reconcile as you are to debate this on the forum this would be over already, and if you were really all that "big and great" this wouldn't an issue here

Never seen an issue like this arise with So Cal's name on it

ummm...I think you took this the wrong way. I was in no way supporting any type of thought you have shared and in no way did I ever refer to this site as a place for people to run their mouth. You do however seem pretty good at the very same thing you accuse others of.

I never supported it as an excuse. You've twisted my words again Damian. I simply stated that you can put together a very expensive motor with all the "fixes" done completely perfectly and it may not last long. We've even seen things that should've failed catastrophically actually save themselves. NOBODY can say that the scratch in the journal would've caused a failure in Bill's motor. That is a fact. Should it have been made known to Bill before the purchase if David remembered it, absolutely. No Question. That's really the end of it. everything else has already been explained very well and it certainly was not a "hack job"

Stroker joined what yesterday? Apparently he thought enough of "these forums" that it was worth his time to defend his company's rep to all of us on "these forums". Laughable statement. Feel free to never sign on again you've done enough damage to DTS rep the owner does not need any more help in that reguard.

I see what you're saying Tim but the fact that engines last a matter of minutes in competition @ high HP levels does in no way excuse using parts that are already damaged. I guess I'm no expert on what constitutes a questionable crank but I know where most would turn for an answer and he already posted. Do you remember the thread Dan @ PPE refused to take back a set of Carillos without them being checked and verified ok by Carillo. Seemed unreasonable at the time but he was trying to protect the uncompromising standards PPE is known for. They don't take chances, they will only use quality parts. He knew there was no room for a gamble or potential error that could come back to haunt PPE. It didnt make sense to me at the time as most people agreed with the guy who was a little ticked. He didnt damage them. Pretty safe to say. And while I agreed with that guy at the time.... I see why Dan took the stand he did... For reasons just like this thread.
