11% isn't bad IMO for how new it is and the number of people that still don't want a diesel. VWs TDIs are 25% of their sales.

The EPA can try a lot of things if we continue to allow it. They are all about control, more people need to stand up to them.

Potentially could the EPA/DOT force these vehicles off the road if they are unable to get them emission compliant?

I don't think they can technically enforce "removing" the vehicles from the road and in no way do I believe they can take the cars out of owners hands, directly... but they can enforce the passing of emissions standards for road tabs as most states and county's already do, and they can add in fees on cars known as being a higher polluting vehicle... and I imagine they can do other more back door stuff too like collaborate with or incorporate insurance companies to require and emissions system check for cars with a loan requiring full coverage insurance...I bet they can enforce rolling checks and fine drivers that fail on the spot too, here is where they take the car indirectly, if you dont pay the fine the car gets flagged or impounded...I believe they can designate/mandate any make/model car as being a track use only vehicle too, cant they? Im not quite sure as I'm just regurgitating things I've "heard"

Have no doubt tho, they can pretty much be as persuasive and as invasive as they want in a case like this...

Jason, California with the C.A.R.B. latest and greatest ideas it is now flagging vehicles that have a higher incidence or a prior failure and are requiring them to go to STAR certified testing facility clearly stated on the registration form. After 2016 all new vehicles manufactured in the US and imported will be required to pass C.A.R.B. standards and will become the national standard in the coming years.

The way I interpret the link below is the federal standard will no longer be an option after 2016 when a state, county or city does not pass air quality standards set by the EPA. In the next 5-10 years you can expect some changes to the current testing you're required to do.

Well start to see class action lawsuits online now. Since inside one in my name I'll call and see what that's all about. I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon to be involved with a lawsuit but since I own one and see where it can possible take a hit on the value of this car I don't think it's a bad idea. I don't want to find out I lost 5k in trade in value due to this.

SO just for shits and grins I decide to blue book our 2012 jetta TDI. we payed 25,600 for this car a month over 3 years ago and have drove it 57K and its in great shape and has always been garaged its whole 3 years. 6 speed manual, leather sunroof premium sound, not body damage. "Very Good" condition private part value is only 12,500, and trade in with "very good" condition is only 10,400$ that seems very low for this car don't you all agree?

Don't know how the market for them is over there but that sounds reasonable over here. There's so many of them here that they don't hold any value.

IMO all these cars will be recalled and have a death flash programmed thus killing those great MPG #'s and sending Malone's business to record levels. This sitting dictator will not stand for trickery and embarrassing his out of control EPA!

I think it's funny how VW broke the law, did something despicable, and people are blaming the EPA. It's hilarious, other manufactures seemed to be able to build diesels without intentionally defeating emissions. I'm not known has a environmentalist:roflmao:, I buy LB7's for a reason. Let's stop acting like anyone but VW are the bad guys here.

I'm thinking I better order a rawtek kit for the wifes 12' IDK if this will have any effect of being able to get one of those but you never know.
Did you get yours ordered? I'm just on the fence, if they don't require anything done after this all gets handled I'm ahead because I've eliminated a problem point on these vehicles, but if they make owners bring these cars in, I don't really want to be out the $1800 or so bucks to get the crap off of it

The Colorado diesel is on hold till more testing is done. All these guys cheated. They cheated because the epa put out some BS rules that can not be overcome without serious horsepower degradation. The butch lesbian in charge of the epa has an agenda.

The rules are definitely not in favor of diesel. Diesels make a lot of NOx, no way around that, lean burn with high temps and pressure means high efficiency and high NOx. Europe has separate rules for diesels.

A few people at the track day yesterday saw the humor in my artwork lol.
