Hey folks. My name is Ryan. I just purchased a ,new to me, 2005 LLY. :thumb:

My very first vehicle was an Isuzu 2 wheel pick up diesel with an 8 foot bet. That thing was great, I would get 50mpg's when diesel was $.49 to .59 a gal.

I am back to a diesel and now with some power. It seems to have a tuff country 4.5 lift, 315/70/17's. it looks as though it has a 4" turbo back, but has a cat and ATS muffler with a Magnaflow tip.

It is white with tan leather. Crew cab, 6'6" lined bed.

I think my first mods will be the AFE mouth piece. EFI Live (undecided on monitor- thinking Bully or Edge) and a cat/muffler delete. Maybe and AFE CAI, but if all I am going to gain is sound than I will wait on that. Not that I don't like the sound of an intake, I just want usefull mods.

As far as asthetics go, I still want usefull stuff that looks cool. So I am thinking rectangle tow mirrors. The oval stock mirrors blow. I live on a deer freeway so I think a bambi bumper will be appropriate. Plust the dealership is letting me buy one at cost.

Also, i think I will remove those crappy pieces of plastic that fade on the doors. i will replace it with bed liner and maybe around the wheel well also. i will line the undercarriage (we use a ton of salt in Utah) and the wheel wells. Last and not useful at all is a black billet gas door.

Oh yeah, it has crappy chrome wheels that are peeling  I would never go chrome, so at some point I will go with either black 17's (less wheel more rubber:thumb:) or stock wheels. Waaaaaayyy better than wheels that sparkle. This is a truck people not a civic.

So anywho, I gues I found a long way to say hello. :welcome4:

Anything else you would do right off the bat?

Thanks in advance:beer

Do the cts monitor 100 times better then the bully dog one. You'll get gains put of a turbo back kit and a S&B intake. You can also use the cts to adjust dsp 5 efi live tunes

Also id do a fass pump to and to run stock wheels with that lift you'll need wheel spacers. 20" and 33x12.50x20 m/ts look bitchin on that lift :thumb:

Any thoughts on the ATS co-piolot trans controller. I know a lot of people are dissatisfied with their tranies themselves, but how about the co-piolot? Any good? Worth it or put $$$$$ into something else?

Ok thanks blk smoke. My tranny is all stock at the moment. I just want to be sure and keep it safe while I add bit to increase hp.

My goal will eventually be 500hp.

Not sure how I will attain it, but that is why I am here. Can a stock tranny with the lock box and/or minor mods handle 500?

500 isnt to hard to hit with the right componets, the lock up box just makes better use of what you have and gets the power to the ground. It may help the stock trans live longer as it locks up the t/c instead of letting it slip, but Ben would have to confim this.

Lift pump, exhaust, built trans and efi from a great tuner,i would do tie rod sleeves and cognito braces to suport the front end. Also for LLY do the egr delete i would do the Allseason big air kit which is a 3 inch y bridge, 3 inch down pipe, egr delete, hot side ic tube and a passenger side uppipe to replace the LLy 1 that bolts up to the backside of the egr.

I am in Utah. Where should I go for a tranny build? What things would I look at putting in a built tranny? How much should I look at spending?

Thanks for all the replies fellas

I would do a stage 4 at least (extra cltches and what not) Stage 3 is same number of clutches as stock, just up-graded plates and steels... Can you build it yourself or do you need someone to do it for you? Can you be without your truck for awhile (ship the trans) or do you need someone close by?

What is your ultimate goal for the truck? You need to be real honest with your self because the power is addicting and you always want more. I try to over build as much as I can to allow for future power upgrades.

Thanks Burn Down. Here is what I posted on Snowest.

Ok in talking to the guys up in Eagle, ID here is what I will start with

Programmer: EFI Live with Edge Edge CTS touch screen monitor

Intake: they suggest S&B Dry. I think I want the AFE

Lift Pump: they suggest Air Dog II. I think I want the Fass 150

EGR Delete: they suggest SDP. I really have no opinion here except some have optional colors and I may want something pretty (****I will likely start with just an EGR Block)

Tranny: they suggest a PPE Kit. Sounds good, but I have read folks prefer Suncoast and get more for less with same quality. Thoughts?

So what I know I am starting with:

1) EFI Live with Edge CTS Monitor

2) EGT Block

3) AFE Turbo Mouthpiece

4) Expadable EGT Probe ( not sure of brand)

Next (down the road) will be: (Likely In The Fall)

Intake: Your Thoughts on Brand?

EGR Delete: Your Thoughts on Brand?

Lift Pump: Fass 150. Any Diagreement on Brand?

New Exhaust: MBRP Turbo Back 5" in Black

TRANNY: the big question that I have to get right PPE ok? Suncoast? What stage?

As far as doing it myself? I would like to think I could figure it out, but I am no mechanic so if it is a job beyond a fumbling backyard mechanic than no. I certainly would like to do it myself- difficulty level?
Send it!
