Found a suitable use for one of the old lift pumps. Getting cold out, needed to fill the waste oil burner...

Do you ever think it just would've been easier to run a couple 454s???
That's what boat had to begin with. Where's the fun in that?

Na these bitches be nasty.. Anyone whose rode in it will attest, way cooler than any 9L gassers. And when I cranked em up at LOTO and she smacked 91mph without even trying, even I felt they were nasty again...

Think we've covered majority of bugs. Now its time to fix this small issue we missed 6yrs ago and see what these will do at full power..

Best I can say, the issue lies under that bottle above somewhere.. lol

She was leaking between 4&6 for certain this time. Got a nice soot line on head and block. Cyl 4 has a line that looks kinda like a crack. Upon further inspection, it's actually block sealer that seeped in when I shut her down hot in LOTO, and laid on top the piston.

Stuff is like a cross between JBWeld and Antisieze when it gets loose. It's over everything and won't come off dry...

Anyways, no gaping cracks jumping out at me, so gonna check heads and deck next. Let me know if anything stands out I'm missing there. Was a bit of rum involved in the disassemble process..

What is going on with the gasket around this coolant port at the bottom of the deck???

Have you thought about O-ringing the block and or possibly using larger head stud????

Nice catch. See the matching marks in the head pic?

Those nuts on that bottom row seemed to come loose easier than all others. Made me watna grab a toque wrench, but I didn't.. However ones on the others head, felt exactly the same when breaking those loose with a bar. And no leak over there..

I know these were torqued correctly. As watched someone do it, rather doing it myself. And we are at roughly 60 hours or so run time on these gaskets and heads. They didn't leak till started turning it up again. Then went south quick.. So has stud stretch ever been noted at 900hp?
